  1. Are you asking about Descartes' "I think, therefore I am"?  Covered a lot better in Wikiped than I could fit in here.   Anyway, biology gives a firmer basis than philosophy.  My take on it is: "Neurotransmission occurs, therefore I am". That is, brains cells transmit chemically, forming thoughts, forming my conciousness...only then is there an "I" formed who can say "I think".  //  Are we our thoughts?  I think we are our brain chemistry - but astoundingly, capable of beautiful art, profound astrophysics.


  2. You could erase your thoughts and be nothing. Thoughts are rivers that flow through are minds and they all have a goal and a place to go. Thoughts are something we create.
