  1. No its the tax we pay too much for

  2. and drivers wonder why there fuel lines get cut and the fuel stolen.....

  3. This country is ridiculous! Simple as, my car is now off the road because i cannot afford to run it! I HATE Brown and his buch of **** bandits... If i could leave this country tomorrow i would!

  4. I stopped reading your "question" when you said "im also told by family that in some parts of scotland its £9.00 a gallon"

Lies and exaggeration will not win you any discussions

Petrol is expensive, fair enough, i accept that. BUT the roads are still full of people tear arsing around, accelerating hard and making unnecessary journeys.

Very few people have modified thier driving styles because of the price of petrol. Most people could instantly get 20% more fuel economy by driving a bit slower, or accelerating at a more gentle rate. This would instantly effectively drop your fuel price by 20%.

    bet you don't do that.

Visit any of the out-of-town retail parks like "BlueWater" or "The Trafford Cetnre" this weekend. The carparks are full of people who will moan about the price of petrol and yet they still waste petrol driving to buy unnecesary goods.

when people cannot drive to work, when they cannot afford to drive to the supermarket, THEN the government will realise the TAX is an issue. Until then though, you just look like you're moaning.

Also, may i point out that (a) you seem to have completely no understanding of the political recent history in the UK and (b) if you think David Cameron will immedaitely drop fuel TAX then i can see why you beleive petrol is scotland is £9 a gallon

    edit:

calling me a "plumb" rather than logically addressing the points i make is one approach i suppose. But i don't think its Mr Brown who is insulting the British people's intelligence, you seem to be a doing a great job of highlighting that all by yourself.

If you just wanted people to agree with your rant you should have said so in the question, then i could have saved the bother of trying to to help by explaining a few things to you.

This is a knowledge site, not a "childish rant" site

  5. Of course we are playing too much for our fuel and much of the blame lies at the door of successive governments who have bled motorists dry through indiscriminate taxation. The present high cost crude oil is the result of clever management of resources by OPEC and speculating scum and who are taking advantage of the situation.

  6. i think its a joke what we have to pay for fuel my last bill was a joke 333.43 for gas and electric what a joke mr brown. live in the real world.

  7. Yes . and we will pay for it again in the high street to.

  8. It was actually stated  the other week that PRE-TAX Britain's diesel was the cheapest and fuel third cheapest  the cost we are paying now is RIDICULOUS!!! and to buba here it is about equivalent of about 2 or 3 dollars  a LITRE!!!

  9. Gas is expensive. VO is free. If you're using gas, you're paying too much. Simple.

  10. Being uneducated in the field of economics I am trying to understand why Gordon Brown cannot instruct his chancellor to reduce the tax on a litre of petrol / diesel.

I understand that the government receives 75% duty from the price we pay at the pump (I appreciate the base rate of fuel is dictated by the external economy rather than British parliament).

So by my basic calculations when the price of diesel last year was 90p per litre the government would receive 67.5p in duty and 22.5p of our money would go towards the fuel itself.

As of May 28th 2008 the price of diesel is around 130p per litre, the government will receive 97.5p in duty and 32.5p of our money would go towards the fuel itself. If I haven’t miscalculated (I did only get a C in maths!) the increase in revenue from fuel duty is around 45%.

Can the chancellor not reduce the duty by approximately half and still receive the same amount, if not slightly more money, than they were receiving before the hike?

Am I looking at the scenario too simplistically? Have I miscalculated? Are my facts incorrect?

I am all too happy to be put right on the subject as I’m sure I’ve missed something glaringly obvious but on the face of things it appears our labour government is profiteering? Again.

  11. The price of fuel in Missouri where I live is $ 4.00 a gal.

Yes its way to high. When  I frist started driving it was.58 cents a gal. I hate to see it in 30 years if I am still in this

    #%$^&%  up world !

  12. Gordon brown is a modern day robin hood but instead of taking from the rich to give to the poor he takes from the poor to bulk up the government war chest Mr browns
