Question:

Are we people of Britain responsible for the war in Iraq?

Our government decieved us that our taxes were to be used to fund defensive warfare, when it ended up being aggressive (bombing of baghdad). Many of us opposed the war and were all up for protesting against it and speaking out, but when the images of thousands bombed by US and British planes in Baghdad came on TV, we didn't do a thing. That could have been our time to see that the government had put blood on our taxpaying hands, and that this was unacceptable, and thus could have protested. But the same goes for all the protesting prior to the invasion: we didn't all do our part, thus not enabling a total anti-war unity of the public to stand once and for all against the government and go on national work strike. And heck, even tax strike (if any of us were willing, for the cause of humanity).

Are we not responsible? Have we not been the financiers of the crimes against Iraq?

  1. lunatic fringe we all know your out there! lol lol lol

  2. Point. Demolition of commercial  airports after evacuation plus Civic Currency can rectify situation. Similar for prisons.

  3. No, Saddam Hussein was, remember Britain never took any c**p from any country, why now.

  4. Not to be rude or anything, but i think that the British should have stayed out of the middle east post WWI. That was a peasant land & the British went over there messing with things & giving them guns etc. Had they not done any of that back then, America or Britian would not be in this mess to begin with.

  5. Man. They are going all the way back to WWI now thats something. But I'll take it a step further. If the Brits had whooped up on us back in colonial times. I seriously doubt the whole Iraq fiasco would have happend. Then again maybe it still might have. So in a very round about way I'd have to say yes. Britan is responsible for the war in Iraq.

  6. The person responsible for the Iraq War is Saddam Hussein.

  7. You could argue we were complicit, since most British people are sheep. Keep feeding them their diet of Big Brother, celebrity shite, The Sun, and soap operas, and they're too brainwashed and lazy to actually think about anything other than what's going on in their B&Q/Tesco/Marks & Spencer/IKEA controlled lives.

Hands up, how many people know that Saddam Hussein was helped into power by the USA not once but twice? Or know that prior to the first Gulf War he was our arms industry's thrid biggest client? Come to think of it, how many people know we are the world's second largest arms manufacturer behind the USA? Or even care? That's my point-it all happened in TV-land, far away and it didn;t affect our fat, selfish lives a bit...except when the price of oil went up of course and we all screamed our protests then didn't we?

I don't know how some British people in Y!A can accuse Americans of being fat, lazy and stupid, because the British are every bit as bad.

  8. The war of Iraq?

The main reasons for the war of Iraq are these:

-Saddam stopped relying in the US for ruling Iraq.

-Iraq stopped being the US's dog.

-Many financial plans were canceled due to Saddam's "rebelion" (oil stacks probably)

Plans that were a used as a cover so that they didnt have the public opinion completely against them:

-Said to have Weapons of Mass Destruction (false)

-Saddam comited crimes against humanity (true)

-Iraq kept hidden terrorists planning against the US(true)

    Reasons for British Intervention:

-As part of the alliance with the US, Britain should take action when his aly needs assistance.

-This alliance includes many financial and influence issues.

*You guys could have protested all you want, but a goverment will do all that's in its power to not influence in a negative way relations with other countries, and less with the US.

*Taxes are used in many other similar ways and it seems only war that comes on ur TV screen makes u hit the edge of the iceberg.

Spain, who was the other "great" aly of US decided to not proceed as the US wanted, lost relations with the US, and now is in an economic crisis.

Think before u start being all patriotic, or sentimental. Being responsible or not of an action wont do a **** unless u PERSONALY take action to help those u helped to murder. If u dont, dont bother being responsible and ignore the matter like almost everyone does.

  9. Yes and the United States should have stayed out of World War I and World War II and you probably would be speaking German and we would not be having this conversation.

Just think how much money we spent figthing the Germans, Japanese and Italians when all we had to do was appease these dictators?

What a wonderful savings of time money and lives if we could just sit and listen to the radio and let the world just go by.

There was no real rational for any war as all you have to do is surrender like the French do.  Sooner or later someone else will fight your wars so why go through the time and expense when we could all live like Switzerland and be neutral  Makes sense to me.

  10. No.

    Don't think so.

    Look in the real world.

Who set up their own mickey mouse trap?

    Get stuck on it.

With the super glue on the board?

    Exodus 20.1-7

    Leviticus 26.1

    Exodus 23.24, 32

    Luke 21.22-24

    Luke 6.39-40,41-45,46-49

    Luke 21.30-33

    Matt 22.32

    What do you think?

  11. Fortunately, there are statesmen to counter your cowardice.  The Hussein regime needed to be taken down and the hidden (still) WMD's had to be be negated for the safety of the western world.

Now that the surge is working and Iraq is stabilizing future generations of Westerners will thank the unpopular Bush and Blair for their courage in the face of shameful appeasers.

  12. Technically if you want to get down to it... the US is responsible for the Iraq war, it was our government that put Suddam Hussein into power back in the 1970's in the first place... now don't get me wrong, I am an American and proud of my country and will die for it if I am called to do so, but I am not one to put blame where it doesn't belong.

Besides we don't know if this debacle would have happened no matter who was in power. It could have happened if Ghandi was the leader of the middle east.

It has happened now and there isn't anything we can do about it, now lets just work on finishing up there and getting our men and women home where they belong.

And to the poster above, we did try to appease Hitler and Musselini and yet they STILL decided to declare war, because they (Hitler mostly) had it in his mind that no one would try to stop him and his expantionist policies.
