Are we "runts getting the hind t*t."?

I've been a civilian for the past two years after my honorable discharge from a special operations unit. I am now called back up.

Most Americans want the war to end, however BOTH political parties want to stay for a long time until the "war is finished" or we are "situated for a withdrawal."

A person had responded to a previous question of mine that "people who matter" want the war to continue. Would it then be safe to say that 75% of Americans are not "the people who matter?"

And what does it mean to be "the people who matter?" Are they the people with money, the socio economic breeding circles that provide CEO's and politicians? Are the "runts" the economically disadvantaged who fight the wars, the ethnic grous who constitute the a disproportionate majority of military forces when compared to their dispersion in the population as a whole?

What do you think?

  1. I think it all centers around the old expression, "Political power comes out of the muzzle of a gun".  This came up after Viet Nam and there was a consensus that the only real reason for our involvement was to prove we were willing to sacrifice lives to get our way.  And we ended up not really getting our own way.

Other countries who have ideas of messing with our policies will think twice if we have proven we won't tolerate being messed with.

Madeline Albright said the same thing under Clinton.

No matter what the reason and justifications it still sucks big time to see innocents harmed and killed.

d**n, you would think with the technology we have now we could share the planet and its resources with out blowing up wedding parties and grade schools.

  2. People who matter will never be used to mean the laundry man or the restaurant server. Very simply people who matter means those who come to the political campaign with flush wallets or good cheque books.

If we want to matter we have to put the money or the campaigning legwork to get congressmen or parliamentarians elected. And we have to particdipate in the primaries that select the candidates, participate effectively, including funding the campaigns of those we want in power.

We have to convince other voters to get behind our woman too.

Those are the rules of political influence. If you want influence you have to be a source of political power.

  3. I think you are posting this on too many different forums.

  4. Would you be interested in this idea. A Citizen U.N. Force comprised of U.S. citizens one using U.N. framework to oppose Human Supremacist notions which contribute to said war and Global Warming. U.N. Force which will go using true U.N. framework if nothing done  at U.N.
