  1. No, but we are dangerously low on congressional leadership that can actually see a looming problem and have the guts to deal with it.

Anyone who votes against drilling off our own coasts and/or in Anwar needs to be voted out of office.

Idiots emphasizing alternative fuels at the expense of our current combustable fuel technology are illequiped to have an intelligent debate with.

Yes, alternative energy sources will eventually take over, but we must maintain our economy in the meantime.

You don't quit a job to start looking for another one...you make sure you maintain your options while testing the waters until you've found a suitable job that you can transition to.

  2. No, we are not running out of oil.  It is just that international demand is so high right now.

  3. It costs Saudi Arabia less than $2.00 to produce a barrel of oil. They are selling it for $138.00 They can't keep up with demand, they don't like us - the oil situation is not going to get better.

In Brazil, the use flex-fuel (based in sugars) and have had great success with it. The U.S. has a huge tariff on fuels from South America... so are we in the oil companies pocket while we head to recession or worse?

Our infrastructure is based on cheap fuel... we will suffer if Congress doesn't act soon.

    What say you?

  4. No, we have plenty of oil. The Democrats won't let any oil companies drill off the shore of Florida. Although China and  Cuba are drilling there right now. No drilling in Anwar. And no new refineries either. I'm not willing to conserve anything until the Kennedys, Clintons, Gores, and the rest of the rich Libs do the same. I'm not suffering under a ceiling fan while they are enjoying air conditioning in their mansions.

  5. There's plenty of gas but it's in high demand because more countries are becoming industrialized more Chinese, Indians and so on are rolling up to gas stations.

In the old days, they reckon gas would run out in 40 years, but what happened is technology improved cars they become more efficient, so required less gas and this sort of scenario will probably continue for a 100 years.

I can't afford gas as much , so I now I walk and use trains when my car isn't necessary.

I really don't care how much oil we have or don't have, oil is not the future. The future is renewable feuls, clean, cheap , non polluting, that's the future we should be focusing on.  Oil is c**p, in Beijing the air pollution is 3 times what's  deemed safe. it causes cardio-vascular disease, and the more you move the more you breath in , the health authorities suggest you don't exercise or run in Beijing,  and the pollutants in the air can travel 1000's of miles. Really is this why we want oil. I say **** oil , oil is only good for the Oil Companies, not you and me!.  Sure we won't be able to do it tomorrow and will still need oil for a while, it'll take time, maybe a lot of time,  but I'd like to see a government that commits to it and starts things moving in that direction for my health, my kids, the planet and of course my pocket.

  6. It's debatable.  Different experts say different things.  I believe that we probably are, so I don't own a car and try to conserve energy in other ways.  If I'm wrong, that's great and I've been saving a lot of money anyway, if I'm not, then I'll have adjusted to life without oil and won't have to feel as responsible for a world oil shortage.

I love how people take it as a personal affront when you don't drive.  I'm making traffic better for you, I'm making air quality better.  Stop being so reactionary.

  7. No. Americans have already cut their gas usage by 7% over the last year, so why does it still go up? It is because big oil bids it up on the futures market. It is called market manipulation. BIG OIL wants you to think we are running out of gas. It's the BIG lie.

  8. Of course not.  This is just another conspiracy theory fabricated by the big oil companies, and promoted by their stooges, our politicians.  There is plenty of oil.  Our politicians are preventing us from getting it out of the ground to keep the prices up for the big oil companies.

  9. Yes and no.  Petroleum supplies are tight because of increased demand from India and China, and production limitations imposed by the US Congress.  But there is still a lot of petroleum in the ground; pundits have been predicting that we had only a twenty years supply of the stuff for at least the last century.  So, the next time you pay $4 a gallon, remember the Congress: the shortage is costing the economy a billion dollars a day -- but no caribou in the ANWR need look at an oil well.

  10. personally

i think we are and its getting harder to find so thats why its going up

i think american are doing better at saving it but no matter what its still gonna go up but thats just my opinion

  11. Yes, the law of scarcity ultimately determines (along with the law of supply and demand) how much oil we have left.

Yes, I am willing to conserve energy as a choice, not as something that is demanded of me either by the plurality, or the government (which would represent the demands of the plurality).
