i was wathing Inncovient truth today, it shows since 2000 CO2 levels and tempature have sky rocketed. what could happed?

We are not screwed, but we are in trouble. But it need not be deadly trouble unless we continue to let the very worse of people decide our future as a species. That is, politicians.

There is much we can do, and ultimately there will be much we will do to survive. Expect everything to change, and expect everyone's opinions to change also. We're at the top of the coaster, and we are starting down the big slope...

No relax, we are not screwed.  Do some research and you will see that Gore's movie deserved an Oscar for "Work of Fiction"  The data was doctored up.

Yes, we are.  Just as in the movie the day after, the real threat is not gorebull warming but global cooling and another  ice age.  

Ice ages generally last 100,000 years and are followed by global warming periods of around 10,000 years.  Well its been just over 10,000 years since the last ice age and we're due.

All of the actions we are currently taking to prevent global warming will deepen and lengthen the catastrophy of an ice age where we're going to need energy and lots of it.  And we're making it harder to get instead of easier.  We're also going to need all the food we can get and we're using it up to make fuel more expensive.  I guess you really can't fix stupid.

If "An Inconvenient Truth" got your attention today, follow it up with some research of your own. These are challenging times, and the outcome of all the research and potential solutions so great in scope that we're talking not just about fixing a lot of environmental wrongs, but about writing a significant chapter in human history.

This site is full of people who take information out of context and spin it to fit their world view.  I have no agenda other than to share information and sites I've discovered in my own quest to learn more about what's going on.  Watching the movie didn't even factor into it for me until very recently.  

I'll post a few of what I think are good sites for background, a few that show the kinds of research going on and who's doing it, and a few that primarily involve solutions.  The technology on the horizon is promising, and some concepts are well within our grasp to implement if we have the political will to do so.

I suggest you go back to basics, learn a bit more about atmosphere and climate, and if you continue to use this site to glean information and opinions, it will give you a frame of reference with which to filter what you read.

You must realize that most of that movie was either an outright lie, or a partial lie. Sort of like the graph you refer to, you know the one with the lift that shows CO2 and temp together. The truth is that CO2 is not the driver of temp. Temp is the driver of CO2. As the climate naturally warms, the oceans release more of their CO2 stores (oceans are the largest CO2 sinks). Al Gore even nkew this before he made the movie, but chose to ignore it as it did not promote his agenda. In the movie, he never states that CO2 was the driver, but he sure makes you think it. The UK court of law a stated that schools must point out that thier are several obvious misstatements in the movie before showing it. There are more lies, but those were the easiest to prove in a court of law.

That kind of CO2 level is extremley dangerous. Not to you or me (well, it could be to future generations), but to the ice caps. When there is to much Carbon Dioxide, the Ice caps melt. If all of the ice in Greenland melted, Sea level would increase by 20 feet (according to Gore). So imagine if all of the ice caps melted. That basically equals a flooded planet. However, Golbal  Warming is real, but for that to happen, the world would have to increase an average 6 degrees farenhiet hogher to melt. Now, is he temperature goes up a degree every 10 years, the world could be screwed by 2068. However, with that much time, we could, nay, SHOULD have had the problem under control.

Im not sure whats going on, but there has been dramatic climate changes going on, and I am glad that people are starting to realize it. Its May, almost June, and in New York City is 55 degrees. I remember 15 years ago the normal day in may was 80s! This worries me!

Well it may not damage our generation but the next might be harmed. It is actually "sky rocketing". So if the gases keep on going up then in a about 100 years or sooner something out of the ordinary will happen, like these temperatures drastically changing.

Think about this for a minute. The industrial revolution revved up around 1850 or so, and with all the population growth and industrial production over the last 158 years, carbon dioxide has increased by only a third? He does not mention that this constitutes only a microscopic percentage of the entire atmosphere encircling the earth.

Could this mean that people are not really a threat to the planet after all? That we can get on with planting trees because ... they're pretty?

Global warming is a big hoax. They say the temperature is getting hotter. Over here the past few summers have been the coldest ever! It just doesnt make sense with me. Also what would news stations talk about if there was no global warming....Nothing but Iraq. The head guy of the weather channel said global warming was fake. Were not screwed!!
