  1. i think so. A star may explode years in the past and today we might see the same star explode.


  2. In a way, yes. The light emanting from distant galaxies/stars are like old photographs of those respective galaxies/stars. As with most things in space, there is a time disparity between when an event occurs and when this event is apparent to us.

    That is an over simplication, but i think it will suffice.

    (but then we are time traveling every day because no matter how short the distance there will be a delay)
