  1. They are a good source of alternative energy and should be explored.  Right now on a large scale they are simply a waste of time.  With that said we do need to invest more and install some plants now, in 50 years it may not be a waste of time.

In order for our system to work we need a fairly constant and predictable energy supply.  Wind is niether constant nor predicutable.  We would have to store that energy.

  2. Good.....real good.

  3. Yes. Wind farms are a good source of alternative energy.

what is a waste of time and planetary health is fossil fuel energy...

not natural renewable/sustainable/non toxic energy sources

  4. Yes they are. The sticking point is that the wind does not blow all the time. When that happens the turbines do not turn so there has to be a backup source of power when this happens. The state of Texas now has the largest "wind Farms" in the country, but it still only supplies 2-3% of their power needs. The answer is to go nuclear, like France and Germany have done for years.

  5. Wind is a great form of natural energy~ so a wind farm is excellent and definately not a waste of time! Also if you live near a creek or river harnessing the natural flow of water energy is good too. I have a friend up north who does that and lives completely off the grid, no money spent on electric bills, how nice and enviromentally friendly!

  6. Being a contractor that builds wind and solar farms, I am very much in favor.  The new technology for the turbines are reducing the noise levels by more than 85%.  However utilizing wind farms are only a start.  Solar farms and other alternative sources are needed.  If each home in the US where able to place a solar panle system on thier roof, large enought to supply power for thier own home, it would drop the need for utility provided power by 75% (battier storge unit needed), which would cut the use of fossile fuel down dramaticly. Plus if you place a larger solar panel system on your roof, the excess energy is feed back into the utility companies system, whch they credit your bill - basicly they buy the energy you produce.  You can save money and also help reduce the need for fossile fuel even more.

  7. Large wind farms produce significant electricity. However, many people do not want to live close to them. They are unsightly and make a lot of noise. There is currently a plan to build a huge wind farm off Cape Cod. However, it has run into a lot of local opposition. I believe the Kennedy clan is against it.

  8. i think that in the beginning that the money you wasted on the wind fans will be more then your saving but in later years you will save a lot more money
