I own a Replica of a 1966 AC 427 Cobra. It is an open cockpit car and as such it does not have windshield wipers as standard equipment Just as the original racing versions of that car did not come with them as standard. I enter the car in car shows and I NEVER drive the car in the rain or even on a day that looks remotely like it might rain. Am I still required in the state of California to have windshield wipers on the car even though that would not be "authentic" to the car I am replicating?

  1. no

  2. You need to ask this of the DMV to be sure. I expect, if it is already inspected and licensed in the state, you are "good to go" but you should ask the proper agency if unsure.

  3. You need to ask that question of a state trooper or the DMV as they are the ones who would be writing you a ticket or annotating your driving record. In Texas, if it's licensed for the highway it has to have a state safety inspection. Without wipers it won't pass and therefore can't be driven.
