  2. Yeah, my aunt went through menopause. Just let her know you completely understand. Maybe have a talk with her about it.

    "Hey, you've been acted a little weird" and suggest hormonal therapy. =)

  3. This is from the Mayo Clinic- there are also a list of remedies for the symptoms.  Perhaps she would appreciate some help with decreasing her irrational behavior.  It's just as bad for her feeling that way as it is for everyone around her!

    Symptoms

    Technically, you don't actually "hit" menopause until it's been one year since your final menstrual period. In the United States, that happens about age 51, on average.

    The signs and symptoms of menopause, however, often appear long before the one-year anniversary of your final period. They include:

        * Irregular periods

        * Decreased fertility

        * Vaginal dryness

        * Hot flashes

        * Sleep disturbances

        * Mood swings

        * Increased abdominal fat

        * Thinning hair

        * Loss of breast fullness

  4. A woman is menopausal after her periods have stopped for one year. Menopause typically occurs in a woman's late forties to early fifties. It is a normal part of aging, marking the end of a woman's reproductive years.More information and remedies at http://useinfo4.blogspot.com/

  5. She needs hormone replacement therapy. There is no need to deal with the mood swings. But recommend she go with bioidentical hormones versus the horse-pee type... which got all the negative hype. They are SAFE and much more closely matched to humans.

  6. My mother had a slow transition through menopause too, and she's moody at the best of times, so it was a number of years of torture

    Luckily I was at University for most of it, but my poor younger sister had to endure the wrath at home.

    Because of the high risk of cancer in our family, HRT was not an option to control the mood swings.  So, mostly we just had to endure.  My mom gave a really effort though, she worked really hard to control her emotions, but of course hormones are hormones.

    Really there is not a whole lot you can do, other than sit down with your mother-in-law and tell her that you understand she isn't doing it on purpose, but ask her to work harder to control the mood swings.  That and stay out of her way as much as possible!
