Are women allowed on submarines in the US NAVY?

  1. No, for both officers and enlisteds. The sole reason for this is, quite simply, that the mission of our submarines require total operational security, meaning they MUST NOT be detected by any adversary forces. Having a woman aboard a boat that is underwater for 6 months at a time is too much of a risk for the submarine, its mission, and its crew. Because of this, Submarines remain (and WILL remain) the last frontline warships that forbid women from serving aboard.

  3. Enlisted women are not; women officers are. I believe it has to do with the cramped space and the safety for both men and women.
