Question:

Are women losing interest in guys with money?

Fifty years ago, money (or at least the potential to get it) was one of the top priorities of women seeking a boyfriend/husband. Fast forward to now, when women are earning more of their own money than ever. By this logic, would there be any real point to choosing a guy on financial grounds? Discuss.

  1. No but since when do women do anything that has a point or is logical?

  2. That is a yes and no answer.

Yes I want a man who is financially grounded as that shows me he cares about his well being and therfore can care about mine.

However, money is not the main issue as there are many things to look for in a potential mate.

No person should be chosen due to financial reasons...

things change in life and what you have today you may not have tomorrow...then where would the relationship be?

  3. The generation of people who are currently young adults (20 somethings) are caring less and less about money than their previous generations.  Young women and men fresh out of college now are looking for a fulfilling, interesting job, as opposed to 20 years ago, where the main goal was to gain middle class status with a good paycheck.  I think money is less important to people in general than it used to be.  Women will continue to choose men based on the fact that they have stable jobs that pay a reasonable amount of money though, because it's a sign of being a responsible adult.

  4. There have always been, and will always be, women who use the ability to make money a criteria.  However, there are the majority who use a wide variety of other reasons when they choose someone to marry.  Obviously, with more than 50% divorcing, those reasons may not have been the best.

In today's world, more women are being educated and working in jobs where they have become financially secure so they do not need to look for that trait in a man.  Many choose a man in a similar field so that they have something in common.  Others choose their mate based on attraction, whether similar or opposite, lust, readiness, etc.

  5. I certainly hope so.  Poor guys like me with  8 1/2 inches will finally get what we deserve!  ;)

  6. I think money is important to be financially stable and to be able to raise your kids, but it's NOT everything.

I dumped a future doctor, because the chemistry and love wasn't there, and his personality just wasn't for me. If I only cared about money, I would have stayed with him.

I would prefer that my significant other is financially stable, so we can support ourselves and a family if we have one.

  7. As a woman I can earn my own money, but I don't want to be the one supporting my boyfriend like a child! I like guys to be able to at least support themselves, and if they have some change left for me then thats not bad either.  =)

  8. perhaps losing interest in money is simply an aspect.. it would be more logical to say that women arent focusing more on the financial ability of the guy, but rather on his capabilities of becoming a fruitful partner.. if a girl can earn money and still have plenty of time to enjoy life, she would probably prefer a man who knows how to have fun, instead of one immersed into big-time businesses who obviously have no time to spare. so, to generalize, women nowadays seem to know what they need, and muster the will to get what they want.

..and of course, the woman would probably decide differently if  she is financially unstable herself..

  9. In the past, women HAD to seek a husband with money. Why? Becasue women had no property rights! Reason unknown....

Have you ever read Jane Austin's 'Pride & Prejudice'? None of the 5 daughters would inherit the family home becasue they were female. Instead, it would go to their male cousin who they had never even met!

This is how it was for women. They were denied an education and basic rights. even in the early to mid 20th century women were forced to give up work once they married. Men did not allow women any power of their own and this is why the feminist movement happened in the 60's/ 70's - Women were forced to fight for basic human rights.

Now? Women can do what they like and don't need to rely on a man for financial security. Inequality still exists in many arena's but we have come a long way.

Women can now chose a guy she loves. Some women I suppose still chose a guy with money, but so do some men (chose women with money).

It's just not necessary these days like it used to be.

  10. It's still logical to choose a man with money. If he is financially dependent on the woman for his finances, he'll despise himself and eventually her. Money may not be directly important to the woman, but it's important to the man and therefore, indirectly to her.

This is in general, of course. There are some "kept" husbands that are not greedy for money and are perfectly happy earning less than their partner.

  11. Why does everybody try to make every issue into universal absolutes? It depends on the woman. You should know not to stereotype people.

  12. In my opinion yes but there are still gold diggers.

(Don't listen to Mike T he likes g*y asian p**n.)

(Mike T some day when I find out where you live I am going to buy a p**p flinging monkey, so when you are going to leave the house, I will tell my monkey to open fire)

  13. There have always been gold diggers and there will always be gold diggers, and there have always and will always be women who have different value systems.  Greed is not gender-exclusive, and it goes back a long ways - just look at the ancient myths about King Midas.  Look at the European myths from the Middle Ages about knights and dragons - dragons were usually guarding gold or treasure, and acted as a symbol of greed.

Nevertheless you may have a point (although I know of no statistical information to back it up.)  I think your own answer is sufficient - it's easier for women to get decent jobs now than it was 50 years ago.  Unfortunately, I don't think the answer is that our society is becoming less greedy - in fact I think as advertising constantly conquers new territory in our daily lives, it's making people MORE greedy than they were fifty years ago.

  14. Ask Donald Trump or any NFL player.

EDIT: RIO... are you saying that a WOMAN can't be an "arrogant, unattractive jerk" too?

A gold digging woman is a jerk so there you go. Perfect match!!!

  15. No.

  16. I can only speak for myself:

I am broke because I'm a college student, and my fiance (due to marry next year, we've been together for almost 4 years) is a recent college graduate, so he actually has less money to his name than I do to mine. This is not a problem for me because I know he has goals to get a good paying job in the future, and I support him in that. That's all I want from a prospective man: viable goals for yourself. It does not matter if these goals will make you filthy rich or just comfortable, as long as you have goals for yourself and you do everything in your power to make them happen. I don't care which of us makes more money.

  17. I would NEVER date Donald Trump.  I make my own money.  I would date a man who is completely and utterly broke if he had a good reason for being that way.  I would be happy to support a man financially if he were busy studying something important, etc.

My main priority is that a man is nice (I've never met Donald Trump, but I assume he isn't that nice).

  18. Money is worthless, there isn't a gold standard anymore. you should marry for love not financial gain that is pure unbridled ignorance and greed! Anyways women now have the right to work! Marrying for money is all propaganda now formed by the elites, and I'm sorry Rio but so is feminism!

  19. Women are losing interest in guys with ALOT of money because they know just like a "scrub" they can be more trouble than what they are worth. Men with a lot of money have very high expectations of any woman and if they start to feel like the woman they are with are not meeting those expectations, they exchange them for another one. So that being said, woman are making their own money so they don't have to financially depend on a man.
