Are women really more mature than men?

I'm tired of women(including my own mother) always saying that they are more mature than us men, it's so not true.

Maturity is not only about being considerate to other peoples feelings but also it’s the courage to take action.

I do admit that(in general) girls are more considerate but that definitely doesn’t make them more mature, as men are more risk taker than women.

Anybody who thinks women are more mature than men have never watched a bunch of women interact.  You want to talk about childish mind games, you can find them then.  I don't consider that mature at all.

As for adults, people vary a lot with respect to how mature they are. That variation is not along s*x lines.

It's not true that all women or girls are more considerate than all men or boys. Nor is it true that all men are more risk taking than all women. PEOPLE vary.

Physically women mature before men, but maturity, mentally, varies by individual. It's a term that is misused by a lot of women. I mainly hear many women saying "immature" to describe men who are not ready to settle down. Simply being different is enough to use this word for some.

No, it is taking responsibility for their actions not taking risks. Just because a man jumps off of a building that does not make him mature. On the other hand I do not believe that men and woman can be equally mature.

women are not considerate to other peoples feelings. take a look the the questions women have asked here and the answers that they gave and you will see that they tend to call all men pigs for a couple bad ones. Also look at what happens in marriage when husbands listen to their wives problems but she will not listen to his. Women tend to lie to us about everything,I dont think thats being considerate. They also tend to cancel plans with their boyfriends and not call,so that they can go out with their girlfriends.

What are you talking about Japanese girls are more mature and considerate since the Samurai era in feudal Japan, Japanese women are more better than Americanized women any day (My opinion).

No.  Girls do tend to mature faster than boys during childhood, but I think this all evens out during the early-mid 20's.

IN GENERAL:

Women cry more.

They are catty with each other and their attacks are psychological, cowardly (EDIT: exactly Colonel Reb).

They make a huge deal out of little things.

They are more concerned with their appearance.

And they think they are better than men cause they can get away with saying it now without being accused of being sexist like a man would.

woman mature faster then men. that does not mean that when they both reach full maturity one is more then the other, just women get there faster. women tend to do things with there heads and their hearts and think  more logically about things before they follow through rather then acting on impulse, which men tend to do. that is probably what she means.

Certainly early on they get ahead but I think that men may become more mature in some ways in the long run.

I think girls (generally) mature quicker than boys but women are not necessarily more mature than men.

Risk taking has nothing to do with maturity. If anything the opposite. I took more risks when I was younger > now I am more mature I evaluate the possible consequences of any risk taking.

You can't generalize that much.

That's no less wrong and offensive than to say "Are Blacks really more mature than Whites?" or anything other variation you can think of.

Generalizations are the recourse of a weak mind; don't be that guy! (or woman in your Mom's case)

It could be a fair statement to say women mature earlier than men, but for every example you can find of a mature woman and immature man, I'm sure we can find the reverse example too.

If your Mom is saying she is more mature than one male in particular then that is probably something that could be proven or disproven.  She could also be mistaking other (more feminine) characteristics for maturity.

Don't get me wrong; I'm not a feminist by any strecth.  There are clearly differences between men and women, and instead of homogenized and erased, those differences make us stronger and bring balance to male/female couples who choose to embrace their true nature.  I just don't think maturity is one of those differences.
