I'm not a feminist per se, but I just want opinions and to hear what others think about this issue :o)

I do agree that we should all be equal in our country and around the world no matter race, creed, or gender.

God looks at us all equally with love, why can't we all treat each other equally with respect and love or at least really give it a good shot!?

:o)

  1. If I'm in the minority, then I need to be protected.  I don't want a feminist doing that.

  2. Technically they are NOT since there are more Women in the U.S. than men.

I guess they are considered a "disadvantaged group"

HOWEVER, the ratio of how much of that "disadvantage" is caused by "society and men" vs. how much is caused by "THEMSELVES" is a hard nut to crack.

  3. How on earth can they be a minority?  They make up about half the population, in america as elsewhere.

  4. being a minority has nothing to do with population. It has to do with who is "ruling" over who. White men are still the majority. It doesn't mean we need special help either.

  5. To feminists, yes, women are still a minority. But I do not classify myself as a minority. Minorities need special rights like Affirmative Action. I do not need special rights, nor will my daughter.

  6. The best word to describe it would be underrepresented. Women today have achieved much, but are still earning about 2/3s (varies) to a man's dollar. Women are still not equal to a man in the domestic setting either, with many women working and coming home to their second job of cleaning and cooking. We, as a nation, have quite a bit to go.

  7. In general. . . no.  Were women ever a minority?

Are they still considered to be a minority in some careers/subject areas?  Sure.  My undergrad school was at least 75% male, because it was very engineering/science-focused.

EDIT:  It's not about population?  If it's not, then I have no idea what being a minority is *supposed* to mean.  Any other definitions are silly.

  8. Who cares what the population thinks. Be yourself. Be the best you that you can be. Make mistakes and don't look over the shoulder for opinions, because the opinions are a projection of their own inadequacies.

  9. Women make up 52% of the poputaltion in the US, God help us all!!

  10. classified as a minority group by the government not by feminist.

Women are considered such b/c even though they make up over 50% of the population womens representation in government is around 16%.

  11. Feminists still behave as if women are a threatened species, but they make enough gleeful noise about men being an evolutionary dead end http://iblognews.wordpress.com/2008/01/0...

And in the meantime they seem determined to still as many men in jail as possible http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
