Hmmm...I've seen this happen to a few guys...without that happening, there is a lot less publicity for those and this question.

  1. What?

  2. There are no social police ...

  3. No, not all women, just mothers.

  4. Not women but feminists are. At least they like to think that they are.

  5. For most of the existence of humans, man survived by running faster than other animals, throwing spears further, wielding clubs harder, etc.

This was not a cave woman's option when she had a couple of kids on her arms. Her best chance for survival was to be a functioning member of a group.

This is why women are more in to maintaining the group, getting along, and more. This is what makes them more in to being the "social police" than men.

  6. I think a lot of people assume they know what's best for everyone else, it all has to do with the ego. Not just women I know men who get like this too; you all know em. The creepy Catholic minister who hates anyone who he believes is sinning, or that old lady who thinks holding hands in public is pornography.

Like I say if you have to assume, assume it didn’t happen. If you think you know everything, you probably don’t.

  7. Do you guys even know what you're talking about?

  8. I think I know what you mean by "social police". You mean "community leaders", "political correctness kommissars", and the like? People who can't help pushing their snouts into everyone else's business? People who always think they know best?

But I don't think it's specifically down to women.

  9. Some act is if they where yeah.

  10. I don't know about women, but feminists have been trying to police every aspect of life for the past 40 years. A popular motto of the 70s was 'The person is political', meaning that what happened in your personal life was a microcosm of what happened in society e.g. if your husband ruled the household, this was a symbol of how The Patriarchy worked in the larger world. Of course this sort of idea did nothing but wreck households all over the West with petty ridiculous squabbles over minor issues, and it was a time when many women were encouraged to withold s*x from their husband The Oppressor. Crazy BS, and I say again I don't know how this madness ever took hold or lasted so long.

In recent times the feminists have got the actual police heavily involved in personal relationships too, especially in terms of divorce and domestic violence.

Also of course there is the PC brigade, but this applies to minority interests of all kinds (including short people who are 'vertically challenged') not just women.

    Edit

@ Jasmine: I am always suspicious of sociobiological explanations because they can be made to fit pretty much any situation without having to present any real evidence e.g. the evidence often only exists in prehistory (or the 'EEA').
