  1. no one is treated with dignity and respect in the armed forces....it's a bunch of big egos looking to outshine the other egos

  2. Yes, in fact, I find that Women are treated in a chivalrous manner... the folks who won't respect you are found on the lib left, the "anti everything US crowd"

  3. I think people place too much emphasis on the military being some overly elite working environment.  Just like any other job, there is competition, however treatment is earned from your peers as in every working establishment.  Though there are some job that are mainly see as 'more of a mans job', women are active participants.  I am a jet engine mechanic, and the only female in my shop.  In each different duty location, I get the looks from my 'new' male 'co-workers'.  Since it's a male dominated job, I have to 'prove' I am worth taking on the responsibilities of that job.  I do it well because I know my job, and earn the respect of the men I work with!

  4. If you are a decent person and treat the soldiers with respect there will be no problem.

  5. Devils I,

That's a fairly loaded question. That's much like asking if women are treated with respect at Wal Mart, or in the police force, or as teachers.

I retired last year as a Naval officer. I knew many women physicians, psychologists, ship drivers, pilots, supply officers, etc. Those who took care of their enlisted personnel, who did their jobs, those who earned the respect due them - yes they were treated with dignity and respect - the same as the men.

Those who were incompetent or lazy - they were given 'official respect' and that was about it.

I worked for some outstanding women. And I had some outstanding women who worked for me. They had my dignity and respect.

  6. Yes absolutely!   If you act like a professional, you will be treated as such.

    USAF Veteran

  7. You will be treated with dignity and respect but when things go out of line  feel free to submit formal or informal complaint to the Equal oppurtunity officer 98% of the time women are treated with dignity those unfortunates that were not part may be victims but not totally innocent they attract to much unwanted attention to themselves.

  8. I think your question is tooo broad. Of course some people will treat you with dignity and respect. Some will do it because you're human, some will do it because what you wear on your collar. Some people won't care at all. Some people will always care. it'll depend on person to person and place to place. generally you should always be treated with dignity and respect. the problem is if people will go through with it. if you do have a problem, just talk to your squadleader or Platoon commander. there are people on the base where they will understand you and if you feel u need to transfer to another unit due to sexism, im sure your officers will understand and transfer, if it were that severe.

im sure you wont have to worry about it and regret it though.
