Question:

Are wooden baseball bats brittle? ?

well i live in ireland and have never physically held one....anyways, i got in an argument with some guy, he had one...

i think i'll see him again later.....

if he swings at me and i put up my forearm to block...will he break my arm? like are they brittle?? would it break my hand if i caught it?

i know to move into the arc and all...but just in case he hits me with it... worst case scenario?

  1. If someone hits you with a bat swinging full speed, it is much more likely that it will break your bones, than it would be your bones break the bat.


  2. It will hurt a lot and possibly break your arm. They are made from one piece of solid wood (usually ash or maple). They have been used as weapons by street thugs.

  4. if he swings it at you, its probably a good idea to put your arm up. But this won't break the bat, it will just mean that you get a broken arm instead of a broken skull.

    Baseball bats are made for hitting baseballs traveling at high speeds. Most people aren't even physically strong enough to swing a bat fast enough to break it against a brick wall, so even if the guy swings as hard as he can, the bat won't break, but your arm probably will.
