We saw a post on yahoo anwers relating to coolphones here:

So, we tried to place an order for 2 160GB Ipods via AMEX.

We waited for 3 days after the order was placed to enquire about delivery & got the respone below:

"Thank you for placing an order during our CoolPhones promotion. We regret to inform you that due to contractual limitations (and an unusually high volume of sales of the new iPod collection), we are unable to process your credit card order. You may change your method of payment. To pay by check or money order, see below. We apologize for any inconvenience."

I truely believe that this is a setup to a scam. I've placed many internet orders and have never come across such a message. I'm also aware that it's often scammers who demand payment like this.

I think the previous "answers" indicating a legit company are bogus!

  1. I have dealt with CoolPhones and had no problems.  You had me worried.  But the site is verified. I bought and paid by Money Order to be safe. I think that online shopping is so much safer nowadays.  Buying from the CoolPhones promo site was fairly simple.  My order arrived in six days.  I'd do it again if I had the money. The CoolPhones.mobi live chat was very helpful.  And the prices really good.  All I had to do is return a short questionnaire in a postage-paid envelope after my order arrived.  My only complaint is that it was tough to reach them by phone.

  2. I did receive my order.  Thank God.  This silly thread scared me crazy.

  3. Always be cautious.  But in this case, I know of the company.  They've been around with various online promotions.  The prices are great.  You get the top-quality.  But you get poor customer service before you order.  After you order you are a VIP.

  4. I actually placed an order (2 webcams) and send them a money order. It is about two weeks and everytime I send an email they respond that they will update my account with shipping information next day and nothing has happened yet. When I read answer one that there is not such a company on that address I know for sure that my money is gone. Too late eh?

  5. I sent my payment in on Oct. 2nd for an iphone.  My check was cashed on the 8th.  Today the 15th I received an email stating that their records show that no payment has been recieved for my order.  I am guessing that this might be a scam.

If so, what is the point of the "trusted website logos"?  If I can help or work with anyone on more investigation please let me know.  This is very uncool.

  6. I went to 123 Essex.  I picked up my iPods.  It is a legit business, but very small.  I think you are confusing CoolPhones the promotion with CoolPhones.com - a non-related company.  CoolPhones.mobi has sold and provided me with 2 orders to date.

  7. I placed and received two orders.  They are legit, but poor communication.  Nevertheless, I am very satisfied otherwise:  the iPods are great, brand new and came just as if Apple sent them.  I think some writers are confusing CoolPhones - the promotion with CoolPhones.com - which is unrelated.  CoolPhones.mobi is OK.

  8. I bought and received an iPod Classic.  It looks and works perfect.  Should I be concerned?

  9. I placed 3 orders with CoolPhones.mobi over the course of two weeks.  Then I read this thread, and I cancelled the last order.  My first order was paid with American Express, that took 6 days to arrive.  My second order was paid by money order.  That took 6 days to arrive.  Everything is OK except I am pissed that I cancelled the third because they are currently out of the RAZR I wanted and they had it before.  So who starts the silly rumors?

  10. I've ordered a Canon Digital Elph from them last week using my American Express card - they sent the same email that others have reported. I have canceled the order - I do not trust them at all. When you send a check, you have no recourse against fraud - with a credit card, you do.

Anyone who thinks we are "overly suspicious" - here is the text of their email I received today:

"Thank you for being a part of our CoolPhones promotion. Jordan LTD appreciates your business and we strive to provide prompt, professional, and courteous service.

Please be advised that we have not charged your card. Due to contractual limits we are unable to process your payment at this time. You may change your method of payment to Diners Club, Check, or Money Order, or you may cancel.

Should you opt to change your method to check or money order, simply send payment (payable to "Jordans") to: Jordan LTD

    1155 East Twain Avenue,

    #108-105,

    Las Vegas, NV 89169.

Your order will be held open for up to 10 days to allow time for payment to be received. Please write your email address only on the note line of your payment. Please also include either a copy of your invoice or a note with your name, order number and shipping address.

You will receive an email notice when your payment is received. (Orders process within 48 hours after payment is received.)

If you cannot pay by one of the available options, as an alternative you may opt to wait for our Spring 2008 promotion and we will guarantee no price increase. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We appreciate your being a part of our Fall 2007 CoolPhones promotional sale.

Professional Service? How about professional DISSERVICE. I replied as follows:

"I provided American Express number, yet it now turns out you do not take Amex, and the order has been put on hold until I send payment under different terms that allow me no recourse if the order is not shipped.

This is entirely unacceptable. The order is to be canceled NOW.

    From your previous email:

'We take pride in providing prompt, professional, and courteous service.'

    Here is my answer:

'I promptly report any abusive or ‘ethically challenged’ tactics by vendors to consumer organizations and authorities.'

    Yours,

    [my name]"

  11. Yahoo.  My order did arrive.  Lots of worry for nothing!

  12. My only complaint is that it took almost a week to receive my order.  They did not offer overnight.  Otherwise I am very pleased.

  13. The problem is online sites like this always attract those unhappy for some reason.  I checked out CoolPhones and found it to be secure and certified.  It's been around, and I've read other reviews that are really good and reliable.  Bottom line:  Someone always complains even about the best businesses.  I'm not saying CoolPhones is great, but certainly they have a long-standing good reputation online.

  14. Update on coolphones. I did some sleuthing. It turns out the New York address listed belongs to a rented mailbox at a check cashing/western union that is also used by other companies. I went in there and asked the person working there who the mailbox is registered to and she told me that it is rented to more than one company. However, Jordan, Ltd. is one of the companies on the list. She also told me that people from Jordans are always in and out to pick up mail from the box.

I think if anything goes wrong, I might just stop by one day while someone from Jordans is checking the box and just ask him/her what the deal is.

Warning, do not trust testimony from tjnycguy, he is a liar. He says that he hasn't bought, but he knows people who have. Liar! He posted multiple times that he has bought from them before, yet he LATER posted on a question that I asked that he hasn't bought from them. He also says that he picked up from their 123 Essex Street Address. This address is a mail forwarding address inside a check cashing/western union, not a legitimate business or office, so there is no way he could've picked up from their 123 essex street address. Potential buyers beware, do not buy from coolphones.mobi.

*Note - many people have posted that they received their order in exactly 6 (six) days regardless of where they had their order shipped. No one has posted any other numbers for shipment times. Highly suspect, don't you think?
