Are yawns passable to dogs!?!?!?!?

LMAO, i know it's a crazy question. but you know how when you yawn sometimes the person next to you yawns too? well if you yawn in front of a dog or a cat or somthing.... could they yawn too?

no not realy it jusyt means there tired but i used to have a parret AND I YAWNED ONCE AND THE STUPID BIRD KEEPS REPEATING MY YAWN

Yes. In  fact dogs are also capable of "sympathy yawns." In other words you can make a dog yawn by yawning in front of them. My chiuaua does it.

My dog can make me yawn...Actually, just thinking about it just made me yawn.

I've never noticed my dog yawning because I did it. We do wake up and fall asleep around the same time though so we do alot of yawning together anyway.

Yes... Believe it or not, it is passable!☺There is something when you yawn exerted form your mouth and then it affects your dog.. (can't remember what the substance exerted is) and your cat.  If you want more info just google search it!

Yawns to dogs are sometimes signals to others that everything is OK or may be a question to you or other dogs asking if everything is OK.  Ever notice that dogs sometimes yawn when they are stressed?  It can mean - "OK - everybody calm down here" or "Is everything OK?"

So sometimes when you yawn, they interpret the signal this way and yawn in return.

Not sure about the contagious part but dogs do "fake yawn" If they are stressed or don't want to do what you have commanded them to do. Just watch you will see what I mean. It's funny.

I just read something on YA about this this past week and someone did a study of this and the answer was yes, certain dogs did yawn after watching a human yawn in front of them.  I wanted to try it with my dog but haven't done so yet.

Yeah I believe it is plausible as my Rainbow lorikeet yawns shortly after I do, so I can't think of why a dog or cat shouldn't lol.

Yes! Actually, I was just reading an article about that a few days ago! The article said that it is now proven that you can pass a yawn to your dog.

I don't know about passable yawns, but I do know that dogs yawn when things get "hairy" between dogs to calm things down. I watched a video narrated by a German dog behaviorist (calming signals) that showed dogs yawning when a new dog was introduced to the pack and a little too frisky.

Yes dogs do yawn, Also I have Parrots and they to will yawn after I do.
