  1. I have previously homeschooled my two elementary-aged sons for one full school year.  We are a Christian family, and we used the Bible and daily devotionals, which we read aloud and which were written for children, to start off our studies each day.  We spent about 15 to 30 minutes each morning reading through and discussing the devotional and corresponding Bible texts, with my sons alternating days when they were in charge of reading the text aloud.  We always ended with a prayer, and then started with the rest of the school day.

Homeschooling was such a great experience for us that we are looking forward to starting again this fall.  (My boys are currently enrolled in a Christian private school.)

  2. I am Christian, and yes I use the Bible, but not only the Bible.

We have Bible as our first subject, then usually math, language, science, history, P.E. etc.

  3. We use it daily. We beginning every school day by a short reading and prayer then we begin school. I wouldn't say that we use it to help them grow up but we believe that it is true and it has instructions as to how to raise our kids. Train up a child in the way they should go and they will not depart from it when they are old. As for implementing a study program my oldest has a bible lesson every day where she has to read a selection (this year is Matthew) then answer the questions. There is a test at the end of every workbook she does. We use a Christian program called ACE and the books take about a month for her to complete usually a little less.

  4. No.

    No.

    See above answers.

  5. I'm a Christian, but no, the Bible is not a part of our curriculum.

  6. I am a Christian homeschooler.  We to our children directly from the Bible.  We memorize scripture, and we talk to our children about biblical principles that apply to our live.

Doorposts has some great resources for Christian homeschoolers.

  7. Yes.  I'm a Christian but I don't have any kids yet.

I have daily devotions and also study the Bible for my curriculum.

  8. We are a Christian family, home schooling is part of our way of life; the Bible is a blueprint for life.

Most Christians study the Bible, and make it part of their daily life if they home school or not.

As home schoolers however we have the freedom to insert many of the Lords teachings in all aspects of academics if we choose to do so.

Many times we use Biblical principles to teach, and use examples based on these to illustrate situations that occur in daily life, and our dealings with other people.

This however is not just unique, or reserved for home school families.

Every Christian family I know tries to practice their faith, and use the Bible to help their children grow, mature, and become stronger in their character, and faith.

  9. I am not Christian, and the only time religion is incorperated into my studies is when I am comparing different cultures in History.

  10. I am a practicing Christian but our homeschooling is secular with no bible quotes and with containing science on evolution as I am not a biblical literalist. The Bible has it's place in our lives but that's over and above the schooling.

  11. i am christian, and i did read the bible. but i do not have kids yet and do not think i will homeschool my kids using the bible.

and i practise being christian by praying to God whn ever i have a problem. i am not that big of a christian though.

  12. We are a Christian family who homeschools, but our religious beliefs were not the sole reason for choosing homeschool as a method of education.

Deuteronomy 6 instructs fathers to teach their children about God, so we do put that into practice.  My husband is teaching our kids apologetics right now, since most Christian youth fall away form faith upon leaving home.  We wanted them to hear those hard questions now rather than later and decide what they believe for themselves as much as possible.
