I have a fairly regular period (27-31 day cycles) but I was wondering if it is possible to have regular periods like this and not ovulate every month. Thanks

  1. Yup, it's definitely possible.  I think my cycle was anovulatory this month (charting) and I seem to be getting my period at the normal time.  Usually, not ovulating delays your cycle.  However, in some cases, your body has a cycle whether or not you ovulated.  The only way you can know for sure is charting.  Good luck!

  2. I was told by my doctor that you cannot have a period unless you have ovulated sometime within that month.

  3. Yes I have had periods every month and it turns out that I only ovulate about four times a year. So they put me on clomid to help regulate that issue. I would suggest using the OPk's that way you will know.

  4. I am in the same circumstance as you. I have a pretty regular 30 day cycle. I am not sure that I ovulate either. I have used OPK's for the last 3 months, and I have only once got a positive LH surge, or so I think. I actually think I may have read the results wrong my first month using them.  I've been reading up on them, and they are NOT an effective way to track Ovulation. They can easily miss the LH surge. Tracking your Basal Body temp is much more effective then an OPK.

I started tracking this month. I am due to ovulate today or tomorrow, I'm really hoping that I see a Rise in Temp!!! That way I will know if I did ovulate for sure. If I dont I am going to the DR right away, and not wasting anymore time. Its only been 5 months, but feels like an eternity! In the meantime, I just keep on Bd! Good luck to you!

don't rely on the OPK....start tracking your BBT.

  5. Yes, many many women are totally regular and they never ovulate. I would highly recommend that you use OPKs for one cycle, just to see if you're making LH which normally suggests ovulation. Alternatively you could chart BBTs which is the only sure sign of ovulation beyond going to the doctor's.

  6. Yes, it is possible. I had a very regular cycle for about nine months after coming off BC, and I thought I was ovulating. A trip to the RE confirmed that I wasn't! Chart your temps if you think you're not, it's the easiest way to find out what's going on with you.

  7. Yes, I had regular periods and did not ovulate every month.
