  1. Depends. For if its for something very serious. Like I smacked my son when he ran across the road without looking...(he was 5-busy road-Grace of God, he wasnt hit) I didnt want him to EVER do that again, and I just did it...smacked him. He still doesnt always look, but he sure looks worried when he realises that he didnt and what might happen! So he then makes an effort to look...

I dont beleive in wacking children though. My mum smacked me not on the hand, or bottom...I was smacked until i hit the ground. Thats so wrong.

  2. For - theres too much people are getting away with...they are literally getting away with murder! So some form of punishment needs to be induced. Look at countries with CP...crime rates are alot lower.

  3. Definitely for!

    1.  Punishment is supposed to be a deterrent - a slap on the wrist for mugging an old lady is hardly a deterrent.

    2.  Punishment is something that is supposed to stop you from doing whatever crime you have committed again..... re offenders continue with their crimes until they get bigger and bigger and innocent people get hurt/killed.

    3.  We all live amongst paedophiles....?  What in the name of Law is that all about???  And they are protected from US....??

    4.  Ian Brady has lived off us, the tax payers,  for years. He recently complained that £25 per week is not enough for his cigarettes....... not even a thought for those poor children that him and his disgusting girlfriend murdered before they were even old enough to get addicted to nicotine, let alone complain about the price of a packet of ciggies.

    5.  Justice should mean just that..... we are too lenient in this country (and many others too) and those of us that are law abiding should be able to sleep in our beds at night knowing we are protected by the law - as it is, if a burglar breaks in, we dare not attack him - as again, the law would protect him.

    THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD!!!

I know i have gone over and above the question asked, but I get sooooo mad about laws in general!

  4. FOR

Because if the wife or the kids don't do what they are told they need something effective to make sure they do next time.

    .

  5. its not agianst the law to use criminals for intense manual labour. I think they should give them a mask and gloves and they have to sort out every bit of trash in landfills to clean up the country, its a deterrent too. Also, they will have no TV, no pool, Nothing. They will sit in thier cell all the time they're not working in the near pitch black with noone to talk to. They should be fed leftovers from school dinners. This is for all crimes but the length of punishment varies as standard. There is no leaving early for being good. MWAHAHAHA! i know that sounds cruel, but thats how i am. Would you love me if i was anything else? no i thought so..hehe..

  6. I think teenagers who are able to beat & stab somebody to death without a second thought all for a petty reason ought to be put down like the sick, mangy mutts they are.

  7. FOR

    WE NEED THE CANE!

  8. forforforforforforforforforforforforforf...

  9. For - think of todays social life - high crime, stabbings, shootings and think of the rate when corporal punishment was in. I say bring it back - it may save hundreds of lives you never know!

  10. Against-why hit children? There is a cycle of abuse, children that are hit grow up to hit their children and it never stops.

  11. The argument against it is that it brutalises people.  I would not support it therefore against anyone who is not already brutalised.

Common assault and bullying are offences I think are appropriate for corporal punishment.  It is actually more humane to give a sudden and painful lesson and then allow no more to be heard of it, than to drag something on for weeks, or to brand someone for something they would be better off forgetting about and putting well behind them.

Theft, criminal damage, and other non-violent offences against the person are better met by reparations - making good the damage to the victim by whatever means the victim and the court feel appropriate and just, and further reparation to society in the form of community service.  I would include many s*x crimes here, and require an assessment be made as to the harm done to the victim.  A sheep-shagger may require a supervised spell working for nothing for an animal charity for example.

Prison should be kept for those who pose an ongoing threat to society.

  12. I'm head of Formula 1 racing, so I'm all for it.

  13. Against but 22 states still approve of corporal punishment.

  14. me personally i'm against

  15. For.

    Sometimes it is necessary.

  16. For.

    Because it works.

If a kid is being genuinly naughty then the parents have the right.

Likewise the teacher at school. School is a very special case. From time to time there are authentically bright kids that have gone off the rails for a variety of reasons. A walloping or two can actually help them as in: Not at school, here you will pay attention and you wil learn, you will ask intelligent questions and you will do your homework. A kid on the receiving end of this may just pass their GCSEs and As/A2s. The teacher may not be able to resolve the problem at home eg the childs hatered of his new step father but at least that kid may get to university rather than end up on the scrapheap.

  17. For, mainly because I enjoy it.  Ooh, I've got goose pimples at the thought of it.
