If so, what are some Irish traditions and any more facts of their culture? And also, how much would a trip to Ireland cost if you fly from the United States and spend about a week in Ireland. Including hotel costs, food costs, plane tickets, ect. for two people?

  1. Yes, I am 90% Irish. I went to Ireland over the summer and my family and I spent about 3,000 dollars. It was a lot of money! The cultures are to wear green and white and to sing Irish songs like "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling." Some of their traditions are just holidays! They celebrate the same holidays as us basically. The plane tickets for 2 are probably about 500 if you're not changing planes. I hope you have fun!

  2. If you come in the July and August, it is high season so costs will be higher, but very many towns have a festival  ...  a week of fun and activity, and you will see a lot of Irish culture there.  B & Bs are usually a lot cheaper than hotels.  The link below isn't exhaustive, but it will give you some idea

Some towns have heritage days where the old ways of doing things are demonstrated, and you might find people dressed as in those times.  Examples at http://www.12travel.com/newsletter/augus...

I think a week is probably not long enough, but if a week is all you have, then decide on a location and do a google or yahoo search about the area, events happening, etc..

Come, and have a great time!!

  3. i am 100% irish....born and rised in dublin city......if you go down the countryside there are traditonal bars that have irish dancing and traditional music....i dont know how much it would cost to come from the states but i know what ever price you pay it will be wroth it the people are soo friendly and we love tourist(im going to NY next year and its going to set me back about €2000 all together)there is also a great night life in dublin with aloud of clubs, pubs and resterants.....hope ye come and have the best time of your life....lol:)

  4. I am half Irish and have been there several times.  I find it best to fly Aerlingus and rent a car to get out of the cities.  The B&B's have been a very good value and give maximum flexibility.  You can decide in the morning where you will stay and call ahead for accomodations.  Then you can stay one night or more depending on what kind of time you're having. The cost will depend on the time of year (high season being more costly) and the level of lodging and meals you decide on.  Re car, reserve one with automatic transmission.  It's hard enough driving on the "wrong" side of the road without shifting on the wrong side too!
