I drive about 45,000 miles a year. No tickets in 41 years, and only one accident that was my fault (32 years ago)

I drive everything from a motorcycle to an 18 wheeler from time to time.

No I do not drive for a living.

So you tell me, am I a bad driver?

That's an opinionated question. My philosophy on driving is to save as much gas as possible, like doing rolling stops when no one's around. Hey, last I checked, gas (like oxygen) can't physically damage your vehicle, but solids (like another vehicle) can. The existing momentum means that I don't have to use as much gas going forward. Running yellow lights with that same theory applies too, so long as it's safe. There are tons of other driving laws that are outdated in terms of this. However, when someone drives too safe which ends up needlessly using up more gas like breaking way too early and too much, I say that that's a bad driver (especially when in a large vehicle like an SUV or van if the vehicle behind you is smaller and can't see ahead) because the person behind you will stop too suddenly too, as well as the next person and that chain reaction will increase the chance of someone rear-ending someone else. But that's just my opinion.

YES!!!

I am a textbook "bad driver."  I speed too much, blow through yellow lights, I get road rage a lot although I have found some tricks to help minimize it, it still happens.  I talk on the cellphone (sometimes two bluetooths -- or is it blueteeth? -- at a time), put on lipstick, floss my teeth, change CDs, eat, etc etc, all while driving.

I am somewhat more cautious when I have my kids in the car with me, but no one would ever mistake me for a careful driver.

It isn't that I am proud of it.  But I am willing to admit it.
