My family has (apparently) traced their ancestry back to Geoffrey Boleyn (of Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I fame).  He was Lord Mayor of London.

My grandmother told me this is the reason why my family carries the tradition of naming their children Geoffrey or Anne.  Ergo my father is Geoffrey, my sister is Anne.

George Washington. Well, his mom actually. Her maiden name was Ball (that's my family's last name). And all people with the last name of Ball are descended from the "Seven Ball Brothers" (seven brothers with the last name Ball, lol).

But that makes me related to Georgie, too, doesn't it? He is her son...lol

And Abraham Lincoln, even more distantly than to Washington. Which is funny, because my best friend is related to John Wilkes Booth (the guy who killed Lincoln).

My dad told me that one of our relatives had done a family tree for his side and supposedly one of my ancestors was a lady-in-waiting to Queen Victoria.  And another was hanged as a witch in Salem.

I'm not, but my husband and daughter can count Grania O'Malley as an ancestress.  Grania was an Irish pirate/privateer during the time of Queen Elizabeth the First of England.  She is one of the few women pirate captains and she was also head of her clan, the O'Malleys, and was very successful in her trade (which she learned from her father).  She and her ships even played a role in defeating the Spanish Armada.

My grandmother is actually a princess but because a Monarchy in Italy doesn't exist anymore she doesn't possess any riches.

In fact, I think my grandmother still has a picture of her father standing beside the last King of Italy.

uh... and my great great uncle (or something like that) was a monk.. and owned all these books from the 17th century. I'm always fascinated when I see those books in her house. Something so old!

my uncle freddy made the rattan for president kennedy's rocking chair. it is now on display at the smithsonian institute.

Also I have blue eyes, and that means that I am related to every person on the planet who has blue eyes, like David Bowie and Frank Sinartra...That is a fact as I have a newspaper cutting about it, it states that a genetic "accident" occurred some 10,000 odd years ago and this genetic mutation (blue eyes) was the beginning of the blue eyed peoples we see today, so we are all related in that regard...

This genetic mutation happened somewhere around the Black Sea...
