Are you a little disappointed in Australia's performance in Beijing? ?

There's still a few days to go, but Australia's medal tally is unlikely to change significantly before the end of the Olympics. So have you been a little disappointed in Australia's performance at these Olympics (11 gold, 38 total), especially considering how well they did in Athens (17 gold, 49 total) and in Sydney 16 gold, 58 total)?

Let's be honest here - none of that politically correct "we're proud of our athletes no matter what" stuff.

At the last Olympics, they were a force to be reckoned with in the pool.  I thought they were going to be our biggest competition in this Olympics, so yes, I am disappointed in their performance this year.

That's because Michael Phelps basically took all the golds that Australians could have won.

ok, im not going to be politcally correct...

We did c**p - the swimmers and cyclist were poor performers (especially the men).  

The government needs to invest more money and resources into our athletes.  Its worked for Great Britain this year!

BUT.....

Still have to be proud for a nation that only has 20 million - we are 5th on the medal tally.  Im proud of that, even if the overall performance wasnt that great.

The U.S. swim team has improved [ largely due to one man ! ], British cycling has improved out of sight, N.Z. rowing has improved + Chinese diving/ gymnastics. You guys have stood still [ and standing still = going backwards ]

Yeah, it has been a little disappointing.  I think some of the athletes talked themselves up too much and didn't live up to our expectations.  I know that that is sport but it is interesting to see that the quiet achievers have actually achieved.  Well done to all regardless of places. That's why they are there and we are here.
