Are you able to see the difference in a photo that was taken with a camera with a cmos or cdd sensor?

I have a nikon d80 (cdd sensor) and i noticed other cameras have a cmos sensor..is there a visual difference

  1. Cmos deals with low light situations slightly better.

I think the main backing claims from Canon (which is really the only serious camera manufacturer using CMOS sensors) for CMOS sensors is that they consume less power and help produce images that are less noisy at higher ISOs. They're more expensive to produce which is probably why most camera manufacturers opt to use CCDs.

    Canon is considered the master of high-ISO photography so there is a slight difference.

    I have two DLSR's that use CCD's and two that use CMOS.  No difference except that the EXIF data shows which camera was used and if you know what sensor is in the camera ... then you know.
