Are you afraid to show all of your different sides?

or do you think everyone has different sides to them and that no one wants anyone to be one dimensional? what really hit me is that i shouldnt be afraid to show all of my sides, but sometimes im afraid that i will look like a fraud and that one side will, i dont how to articulate this, but "ruin" the other one? i also feel lke i will let people down because of this. anyway i figure i should allow myself to be the person i ought to be and if people dont like me then forget em. anyway i know other people feel this way, so i want your feelings. thanks.

I like what the first responder said about all sides not being meant to be shown. I think that is very sensible. I don't think even the dumbest people are one dimensional. It may be more important to be true to who you are but you still have to live within the confines of society or pay a price.

We tend to hide some personality traits because we've learned from our environment that they are less accepted than others that we tend to be willing to show to others. It's normal and is adaptive. Some people care to fit in a little less, some a little more, but almost no one doesn't alter their behavior at all when interacting with others.

We have different sides for a reason. All my sides are not meant to be shown.

I usually don't show my different sides. They go against the way I usually act [weird, happy, loud even slightly annoying]. But when I do show my different sides it kind of makes me feel like I can let go a bit. Which in turn makes me feel better and free[er]
