You do realize that without the Patriot Act, JFK Airport would have been bombed, right?

Maybe if Bill enacted some sort of Patriot Act after the WTC bombing in 93, 9/11 wouldn't have happened....

  1. Previous to the Patriot Act; American government officials took the necessary steps to guarantee the life and liberty of citizens, are you suggesting that the new government was incapable of fullfilling that obligation to the citizens without the Patriot Act?

  2. Well, parts of it are certainly stupid. My mother has been a licensed driver in our state for 50 years, and *now* they want her to provide a birth certificate and marriage certificates to my father and step father as well as divorce papers from Dad. That was only 30 years ago....

  3. I think the Patriot act goes way beyond what the government needs to do. It gives the government powers that is against the constitution. I do not like the idea of the government being able to spy on me or any other citizen without a warrent. If they suspect something then they need to follow the process of gathering evidence and get the warrent. The patriot act needs to be scrapped.

  4. Yes. Totally unnecessary. 911 was a false flag so was the 93 bombing. Its obvious to everyone but the sheeple.

  5. The Patriot Act is pretty harmless. I wish the liberals would get wound up over the constitution shredding, war on drugs.

  6. Every law has its pro's and cons.

I believe most problems related to the Patriot Act are caused by poor enforcement in conjunction with other laws (Privacy act and Freedom of Information Act for example).

These sets of laws have unfortunately become so Byzantine in their workings, that strict enforcement becomes not only tedious but more importantly, expensive for the government to implement properly.

Basically, if you have nothing to hide, who cares if the government knows about it?

The problem is, now that all this information is floating around somewhere, it is possible for it to slip through the cracks and become available to unauthorized persons (posted on websites, given to the wrong people, etc.) - then inadvertently all of a sudden, all sorts of persons have access to information that should be held private.

Identity theft, invasion of privacy, and so many more issues are immediately brought to mind...

  7. I feel sorry for people like you...honestly, I don't understand why you would rather live in a police state than a free country.

Living in a free country means taking risks.  Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither....

  8. The Patriot Act is just a guise to bring Fascism to the US.

Homeland Security has stated that the JFK attack you refer to was "not technically feasible".

It's sad that so many people let their irrational fears get in the way of their judgment.

That's how Hitler was able to bring Fascism to Germany..
