Ganguly hasn't done that well but not that bad either.

The word Icon player is the wrong choice of word. IPL chose it

and we fans expect them to perform in every match, which

of course we all know not every one can succeed. Having said

this, we do not see even the Aussie and NZ players doing

wonders in every game. We saw Hayden in couple matches,

Gilly, Hussey in one game, McCullum in the first IPL match

and yet we all say that Aussies performed better than any other

countries representation. If one looks at the Indians or SLs or

Pak players it is the same story. Sehwag has played well

and his game suits very well to this format and he opens the

innings and has plenty to score. Yes he has excelled.

Among the others who could have done better was Ganguly

as he also fits perfectly with this game and he has failed to

deliver. IPL chose to use Icon player when we already know

that players like Dravid, Laxman cannot score at a high SR.

They are not meant to be for this game - instead they are

iconic players to steady the team. From that perspective they

have done a decent job, if not better. Yuvraj - individually may

not have done it - but as a team he has lead the team to 5

wins.

So one should not expect too much from Icon players.....but it

is a hard sell....isnt it when they are all paid over $1 million

US dollars.

Right, only V. Sehwag, VVS Laxman were able to keep thier reputations being an iconic player.

in IPL

1-Sachin Captain  of Mumbai not yet played any match

2-Saurav  Captain Kolkatta 6 matches only one half century that to not very impressive.

3-Yuvraj Captain PunJab 7 matches only one half century

4-Dravid Captain Banglore trying hard but that too not

very impressive only one half century in seven matches

5- Sehwag Captain of Delhi yes he is performing extra

ordinary with bat and ball both.

6- Laxman Captain of Hyderabad not at all impressive

Dhoni and Shane Warne  I think they are not I Con players

they were auctioned i think
