youre only allowed to discard when you have too many cards in your hand

No you're not but you can dicard cards at the end of your turn when you have more than 6 cards in your hand but you must discard until you have 6 cards left. Also, theres a card called infinite cards so you don't have to discard when you have more than 6 cards and it turns the hand limit from 6 to unlimited so it's possible to have your whole deck in your hand.
