  1. See site below for acceptable I.D.  However, airlines will usually accept "alternative "I.D.  He will have to fill out extra paperwork and go through a lengthier inspection.  If he has his birth certificate, credit card, debit card, anything else to bring, he should.  He also needs to get a state I.D. card from the DMV promptly...he is an adult now and will need adult I.D. for many things.  If there is not enough time to get it before his trip, he sure needs to do it when he returns.

  2. Yes, but they will ask him why he doesn't have state ID.  He will need to answer all their questions.  If they are satisfied he is telling the truth, they will give him secondary screening and let him on.

  3. Since the student ID isn't TSA compliant, he will have to go through supplemental security screening.  It is important that he arrive at least an extra hour early (at least 2 hours in advance of the flight to ensure plenty of time for the supplemental.  I've heard of them lasting a couple of minutes up to over an hour depending on the passenger load and issues with verifying identity.

The key is - Bobby needs to get a government-issued ID as soon as possible.

    Good luck!
