I've got a small bbq and i was wondering whether there is a park or two in London (preferably south west London) where there are dedicated bbq spots or where you're allowed to bbq. If not can you bbq on your balcony(i've only got a flat, not a house with garden)?

  1. Apparently you are not allowed to use any type of Barbeque at any parks or public spaces in London :( I took that diposable BBQ on the weekend and was told off by a Policeman and I was asked to put it out.

This is the response I got from Battersea Park:

As far as I know Wandsworth Council do not allow BBQs in any of their Parks.

There was a serious problem a few years ago with kids and dogs being burnt amd scorched grass in Battersea Park that they took a decision to ban BBQs completely.

They tell me that they are considering ways of allowing people to have BBQs, but I haven't heard if any progress has been made about this.

  2. In the parks you are allowed with those disposable bbqs, for example kensington gardens and hyde park. In your flat you should be able to, just maybe warn your neighbours that it may be a bit noisy if there'll be lots of people so they won't complain!

  3. not in royal parks ie richmond other parks should be ok

  4. I've seen plenty of people bbqing on Wandsworth Common.  You can also get beers in plastic cups from the Hope pub to have over on the common, which helps!!

For your flat - check your tenancy agreement.  To be honest though, it probably doesn't specify, so my thought would be that if it doesn't say no then you can go for it.

  5. BBQ on your balcony? depends on your tenancy agreement and your neighbours, as for parks I would check with the park wardens they are hot on health and safety

  6. Nop

  7. I doubt there will be any parks but I've seen some people try their luck and get away with it.

I'm 100% sure you cant BBQ on your balcony, but you can check the terms of your lease which will describe what you can and can't do.   I'm assuming it's a leasehold flat or you rent.
