Are you allowed to have more than 1 paragraph for an essay introduction?

Question

I have an essay on nuclear energy. So i thought that in the intro i should talk about what nuclear energy is. Then!!! in the next paragraph ill outline my ideas.

Is that ok?

ALWAYS do your introduction LAST! Do your essay then go back and insert your introduction which should be a 200 word paragraph describing what the reader will find in the essay simple as that.If it needs to be broken down into sub paragraphs thats fine, try to keep it at only 2 though. The summary at the end is the same it should also be approx 200 words describing what the reader has just read.

Usually you put your introduction in just one paragraph. You should speak to your teacher about it.
