E.g. If I have something in England that costs £500 can I advertise it over the internet as being 7000 Rand for example?

  1. There isn't any reason why you can't but why would you want to, unless you were making it a point to sell it to someone in a country where the Rand is standard currency.  Stick with £ unless you find a buyer outside the UK.

Also, on today's exchange rate, if you advertised it for 7000 R you would be shorting yourself another £13.

  2. Absolutely. Just look on Ebay.  Or any number of business websites.  I regularly visit a number of British-based websites, and most have an option where you can select what currency you want to view the prices in - pounds, dollars, euros, yen, are most common.  If you are going to engage in a business transaction though, you must be specific that, for example, if the price says 500 pounds or 7000 Rand, whether you are going to actually charge 7000 Rand, or if that is the current estimate based on the exchange rate, and when the transaction is processed it may be slightly different.

  3. Although you will need to make payment arrangements with banks to permit such a thing and some countries restrict currency transactions, generally in the developed world you can quote a price in any currency.

  4. dont no sorri

  5. I can't see why not but it might be just as well to but it like this: SAR7000  (GBP 500) then no-one can complain
