NO for pop (soda), but YES for coffee.

I am not sure why my local McDonald's has the Coffee pot available on the front counter in the Morning for refills, yet the Pop Machine is behind the counter all the time.   I think that the franchise owner makes that available or not.  It doesn't seem to be at every McDonald's.  I'm been to McDonald's outside of my city and they allowed refills on Pop (soda) because the machine was out front for customers to use.  Go Figure!!

Different McDonalds have different policies.

As a general rule of thumb if the soda fountain is out in the lobby where you can get at it yes. Hot coffee and hot tea will have the same refill policy as sodas but it'll usually be kept behind the counter for liability reasons.

The exception is if you ask specifically for water. A cup for water is free, so if you fill the cup with soda they'll try to make you pay if they catch you. That's why a water cup isclear plastic or the smallest cup they have.

Shakes, OJ, and iced coffees don't have free refills.

yeah, pretty much any place where you fill your own drinks has free refills, but if they are behind the counter, you have to ask.

Yes you can get FREE refills at any participating McDonald's restaurant. Just bring your empty cup to the counter and ask for a refill.

I would say as long as it is a  'do it yourself' pop machine, yes.  Unless of course there is a sign saying not to.
