  1. If you're an idiot, yes

  2. Yea.

  3. Depending on where you live. Some Cities, such as Sudbury Ontario, you CANNOT ride your bike on the sidewalk for it is illegal! But other places such as North Bay, Ontario; have sidewalk specific areas!

Hope this kinda helps you out. I would check you city councils webcite or review panflet to inform yourself!

  4. In most US cities, the answer's no.

In Chicago, you're only allowed to ride on the sidewalk if you're 12 years old or younger. Some parts of Chicago, they have metermaids and police who ticket sidewalk riders.

  5. As a few have pointed out check on the laws and rules in your area, they vary quite a bit from town to town. Also don't count on a local officer to know 100% for sure, ask or check with the local PD office and request to see the law in writing. I mention this as a precaution, my brothers an officer and this comes from him.

  6. Like has been stated, you need to check your local laws, as they may vary from place to place.  In Seattle, it is permissable to ride on the sidewalks, but you must yield to all pedestrians if you do.  I think typically, you won't run into much trouble on the sidewalks (in terms of legality) so long as you're not riding like a jerk and bulldozing people as you go along, regardless of the law.  I'm not saying to go and do it regardless of the law, but much like jaywalking, you typically won't get stopped and ticketed for it in most areas unless you are doing something wrong on top of that like stopping traffic or just doing something and really asking for it.
