Are you allowed to smoke when..?

Question

When you are on a plane? That would scare me because I'm terrified of there to be a fire on a plane when in the air! :(

I'm already scared of heights and planes as it is! LOL

you used to be able to. now there is no way.  Think about it, in most places you can't even smoke on a patio anymore you think they'd let you do that in a tin can? lol.  

They do have signs everywhere and even tell you at the beginning there is NO smoking and disconnecting fire alarms in the bathroom to smoke will result in arrest and fining when you land.

There is absolutley no smoking on any airlines I've ever heard of.

Long ago, smoking was permitted throughout the cabin.

Then they divided it left and right - smoking/non-smoking.

A lot of good that did!

Then it was front to back, no smoking towards the front, smokers to the back.  That was a little better, especially on big planes with multiple cabins.

I remember checking in for a flight once and the guy asked me which section I wanted, "Smoking or breathing ?"

But the reason (cough) that they eventually (hack),

banned it altogether (cough, hack) was not because

of the risk of fire, which was rather minimal, but

because (hack, cough) it really stank up the place,

and the flight attendants were getting sick (cough, spit, hack).

Airplanes were one of the first places to see bans on

smoking instituted.

no absolutely not.

they even tell you when you get on that there is no smoking on any airlines any where in the world.

and that if you attempt to smoke anywhere in the plane that you will be detained and arrested as soon as the plane lands.

No you can not smoke in any airline but i have seen in airline lavatory there is some place for put end of your cigarette but they wrote it is prohibited to smoke
