  1. Probably be a demerit.

The "curb" could be a building or another car or obstacle.

On the other hand, do not park more than 18" from the curb.

    It's 18" in TX.

  2. NO, nof here in New York State.

  3. most won't care but it really just depends on the instructor. some are up tight a$s holes and others are really cool. just take your time and you should be fine. i highly doubt any one would fail you for scrapping the curb.

  4. It depends on the person who is supervising you

if they don't notice then yes but if they notice then it depends on the state requirements

I live in West Virginia and we are only failed if we run over it not just tap it.

    Just check the rquirements

  5. depends on where you live, tapping it in some states is okay, hitting it or hitting a cone will fail you.

  6. If you "tap" the curb with your rear pass. side wheel, you can't complete your parallel park, unless the Examiner allows you to "fix" it by pulling forward and steering full right, then straightening your vehicle. Otherwise the Examiner will ask you to pull out and try again, usually with the same car. If you have to repeat your parallel parking, don't forget to signal and shoulder check before exiting from the curb.

If you "tap" your front passenger side wheel against the curb gently, you can continue backing and steer right which straightens your front wheels allowing your car to continue backing to a straightened position along side of the curb......

You usually get two or three chances at parallel parking on a Driving Test. If you feel that you are touching the curb and the Examiner isn't saying anything, then just fix it!

If you roll up over the curb however, you will fail your test.........so

I advise you to cover your brake while backing, and if you find it necessary to use a bit of acceleration to get your car moving, then get that right foot back over the brake as soon as it starts to move........go slowly, and check your passenger side mirror too just as you straighten out your car to make sure you are straight.

    I hope that helps....
