Do you always think that the relationship is a fraud? Do you think that pretty women is not suppose to be with a man who is not gwapo?

when you marry someone, it isn't just the face that you marry. it's the whole well being of the person. and that includes her past, her family, her likes and dislikes and even her pet lizard. and whether the society permits it or not, you don't care as long as your partner is not affected. but when your partner seem to be affected, then you wage war with society.

when i see a foreigner and a filipina together, i felt respect for the foreigner for choosing a filipina as a partner. and i feel proud for the filipina who captured the heart and soul of the poor foreigner hehehe. just kidding, sir.

I really don't care what reasons behind such relationship. Though it has been known that some (Filipinas) were married for convenience. Or whatever reasons might have been, its totally none of our business. And marrying a person who is not equally attractive or less attractive might raise a question at the back of everyone's mind. I must admit that sometimes I had that kind of feeling but then who am I to judge? Sometimes people just tend to be very judgmental. If you see couple who are opposite physically, let it be...since love is not all about physical beauty. Its within....

P, I'm more skeptical when I see two "beauties" (pretty girl, pretty boy) paired up.  I try to guess which one is the shallow one.  But really believing in the back of my mind that they both probably are.  But thats just me.  I only do that because I'm not the handsome dude I used to be and I know it.  You might say its jealousy.

depends on the situation. some people with low educational attainment talk about other people simply because they don't have anything else to talk about. other people worry about other people because they think it is their duty to look after their countrymen.

i do admit, i used to be skeptical about it but as i tried to widen my horizons i realized that judging people based on their looks and on hearsays isn't right.  

now,when i see a couple, i feel happy for them. my thoughts are no longer on how they met,where they met,etc.

i think more on hopes that the guy would respect and love the girl,not to abuse her and vise versa.

I agree with Buck, people who put too much emphasis on outside appearance are very shallow.

I Think marrying outside one's race is a great thing!  The world would be sooooo boring if all blacks were with blacks, whites with whites, asians with asians.  That would kind of be like Germany in 1940.  

As a matter of fact, I think everyone should have a partner of a different race, initiating steps to eliminate racism by blending ....

Also: Women AND men all over the world have been known to chose partners for economic benefit, so this isn't unique to the Philippines.  I see plenty of couples in Europe where one partneris clearly with the other for more than just love.

None at all.  I have relatives who are married to foreigners.  And their relationships are anything but fraud; in fact, it's like fairy tales come true to most of them.  I would have married a foreigner myself had I not been afraid (at that time) to be far away from my parents ( the only girl and papa's apple of the eye).

No, it isn't abnormal to be marrying outside one's race or outside one's religion.  What is abnormal is how one views inter-racial marriages with disdain.

And no, I don't despise odd-looking couples.  As they say, "beauty is in the eyes of the beholder".  What might be ugly for you is beauty for another person and vice-versa.  Personal choice, I should say.  No need to frown on them.
