Are you kidding? I'm not into swimming at all but you have to respect what the guy is doing. 6 Gold Medals in 6 Events, all world records?! It's unbelievable easily one of the most dominating athletes these days. If you truely love sports, you don't have to like it, but you have to respect it. You're seeing history!!

If you mean am I sick of how much attention Michael Phelps is getting when there are so many other great athletes that get little or no attention? Yes. Is this a sign of of how screwed up we are as a nation that we will grab onto anything hopeful or promising to pull us out of the funk we have been in for the last eight years? Yes. To call someone the greatest Olympic athlete of all time based on medal count is pure folly. There are great differences in each of the events and comparing them in any way is difficult. What about some of the great decathletes of the past. They receive only one medal for all ten events they participate in. There is no way to compare the different events.

Don't get me wrong.  His achievement is admirable.  Its the overwhelming press worship that detracts from others admirable achievements!

YES! But really I am sick of the media's constant coverage of him, when there are many other great Olympic stories to cover. I mean, even when they were intervewing the other swimmers today, they had to ask them, "What's it like training with Michael Phelps?" or "What did you think about his gold medal run?" Come on. So sick of hearing about him. Huge accomplishment, but completely oversaturated by it.

Just hearing him like on youtube or somewhere just makes you think of him as the kid who has to have drool-proof shirts.

Besides swimming, all the "sports" in the olympics shouldn't even be called sports except basketball, which only the U.S. plays so we are kicking all the other countrie's a**.

Also have you seen the rankings in total medals?

U.S. has the most but china has like 25+ gold.
