  1. Of course it's not automatic!  They go off of your income.

  2. No, it's not automatic.

  3. i think your income matters. when i got pregnant, i had to go get varification i was pregnant at a doctors office first- thats the number one step..then i had to have my social security card, birth certificate, proof of residency, proof of income, and my proof of bills. then i had to go to the place like where you get food stamps and if you qualify then you will be put on medicaid, i did and they paid for everything! i was so thankful for it. im not sure about your specific state, but its proly the same. good luck and congrats!

  4. Probably not, it is based on income. Only way to find out is apply. Do you have WIC up there? You would probably qualify for that.

  5. It's not automatic... and they do check your assets, but current income is the main guidelines.. Usually they ask for gross.. so if you made too much.. lately.. and are just recently not working.. you may have a to wait a few months.. and re-apply!!

if you are worried about coverage.. you could get a discount medical plan in the meantime..while you wait.. and then any expenses you incur (usually within 3 months) medicaid will usually pay those back for you.. (know first hand!)

I went with AmeriPlan USA.. and for $40 a month you can get great savings on all health related services.. all pre-existing conditions are accepted even maternity!

Hope this helps! if you have any questions.. how I used AmeriPlan.. please call!  I liked it so much.. I sell benefits plans for them now..since we make too much to be covered under state ins. I can explain how it works for pregnancy..

Try the state first though!! it's definatly the cheaper route of the 2!

  6. Considering the hellhole that is Michigan politics (detroit, specifically), probably. But I don't know that for sure.
