Are you aware of the fact that about 50% of Serbian songs are stolen from the Greeks?

They keep stealing Greek songs... LOL. You can hear them everywhere. Exactly the same music, nothing is changed, it's just in different language.

Actually I'm not aware of this, but if you call it a fact, say you know the percentage and claim "you can hear them everywhere" - then I guess I'm not living in the same country Serbia you have in mind. Or is it that the friendship between the two nations is so close that we just mix it without thinking of the word 'stealing'? Both Greeks and Serbs are passionate (and not only about music!) and you know how things get intermingled in passion, right? You don't know which is which and whose is what.....mmmmm..... you should try it some time, sounds like you have no passion of your own, since you keep your nose in other people's passion, LOL:)

BTW, did you know that more than 90% of people who use "Anonymous" instead of their real identity have grave problems with that same identity? They're insecure and wish they could be someone else. Who would you rather be, Anonymous?

Actually, anonymous or not, malicious or not - you are totally right, unfortunately.

What I can say in defense is that all those who steal Greek music  are mostly awful cheap singers, pop or folk - doesn't matter.

Of course, people don't know that - maybe they can hear Greek original when they are there on vacation. Sometimes Greek songs become hit before somebody steal them, like "Kardia mou.." from Remos.

I am "lucky" enough to recognize all those Greek songs in their version, some only 2-3 months made after Greek original.

That is not "trend" only in Serbia, but in Croatia too, I could tell you even songs and singers, but don't have time for that.

Same goes for Bulgaria, where they steal Serbian songs, etc.

I guess that Greeks can only be flattered with that. And audience here should be more critical towards pop/folk singers. As for me, I just change radio station/TV channel.

What are you trying to get at here?

There are American songs sung by Greeks in Greek all of the time. Helena Paparizou did almost an entire concert singing English songs.

Serbia aren't the only ones.

Even if it's true, so what? I'd love to listen to Greek songs being sung in another language... :) Music shouldn't stay in one place.

Yes, I have noticed that. Maybe not as many as 50%, but definitely A LOT. Some of those songs are bought legally, but unfortunately many of them are, like you said, just "stolen". They hear a song they like and just make the same one in Serbian. In most cases they are not even translations. They just make their own lyrics to the existing Greek music. I know this because I listen to both Greek and Serbian music every day. When a huge music hit appears in Greece, you can bet the same song will appear in Serbia sooner or later.

EDIT: I see all the thumbs down. Well, I'm just stating a fact. If you don't believe me, check for yourself and see how many songs you will recognise.  Don't forget that I live in ex-Yugoslavia and I watch ex-Yu TV programs, read ex-Yu newspapers etc., so I am aware of this problem. I have nothing against singing good songs in many different countries and languages, but I think it should be done legally. Why would you get rich on someone else's talent?

P.S. Oh, and it's not only Greek songs they steal, there are some others as well (Turkish, Bulgarian etc.), but mostly Greek.

Music is international and not anymore the local affair of one country. Besides record companies want to sell and if they can do it in another language is more profits for them.

On the other hand, don't we "steal" the music of other countries? There are countless examples of that from both the East as well as the West and is not a new fruit this trend. It has been going on for many years back with many hits of their time. Mostly from the West and wen the bouzoukia were the music f the masses around the late 60's the East was the main supplier for songs for many singers.
