The media tends to distort the truth and present only those items that benefit their agenda. A glaring example of this is the polar bear pictures. we have all seen the 2 polar bears floating on the iceberg. but, do you know the truth behind this photo? If you listen only to the main stream media, then you do not know the truth.

I haven't been manipulated by media for many years.

The "journalists" have had a very 'liberal' education and refuse to understand that conservatives are for preservation of freedom whereas "progressive" liberals are for cradle to grave 'security' and NO freedoms.

They successfully 'brainwashed' people into believing Polar Bears are carnivores dependent in ice to survive.  The opposite is true = Polar bears also live in land and eat berries.  Now, because they are voracious eaters, and populations have grown so high - they threaten extinction of other species.

Intelligent People know when they hear BS - Dupes believe what they are 'told'.  This is why FOX news is becoming far more popular - you can hear the typical liberal prattle, but you will also hear an opposing viewpoint - NOT AVAILABLE on 'main stream media'.

Of course the media distorts the truth or we would never but the paper now would we??

I have has many emails about stranded polar bears I can see they are not true.

To me its the weather pattern change that is the most notable at 85F the sun-rays burn into the skin so badly it feels like over 100 F well that's suppose to be normal for Australia but this year i seems to be unbearable, for some reason I'm feeling it worse than ever.

In the states they get ice storms last years was amazing, although I wish winter would hurry up I hope it wont be ice storms as that is going to cripple me for sure.

so folks do what you can for your grandchildren sakes plus there kids as well

In answer to your original question....DUH.

I mean, the media manipulates us EVERYDAY concerning EVERYTHING.

However, maybe they do stretch the truth just a tiny bit when it comes to global warming...basically, a sort of exaggeration.

But that doesn't mean global warming doesn't exist. Perhaps this exaggeration IS needed....so us humans start shaping up and taking action because...we feel like the earth is coming to an end. I think this exaggeration isn't totally harmful so...

(Yes, and if we only listen to mainstream media, then we are all total losers, because we aren't allowing ourselves to look at different sides of the story THEN choosing what we should believe. It's called being smart. Don't believe people blindly...even if they are the media.)

There is not one single scientific fact in your link, it is all just media related garbage. Anyway in answer to your question, No, I have been checking my facts in as many places as possible. Infact I dont even have a TV so the media does not play a large part in my life.

This is true for about everything the media gets involved in. Did you notice since the inception of Discovery, TLC, and Nat Geo channels, that science has become very sensationalized. It used to be that you had a very dull and monotone scientist try to explain a theory to you.  Which is how I like my documentaries, nice and dry.  But now to get ratings everything has to be extreme and exciting.  Now they have a thrilling zoom up to the scientist, before he explains his theory, in very short bits so we wont get bored. Also you get a recap after every commercial, just in case we are so stupid that we forgot what we just saw and so it will fit that one hour block. You get scenes made to make you feel great excitement or dread.  No more “oh, that is interesting” now we want to say “Oh My Good! Please say it isn’t so!”  The news is the most tainted of all the media.  All you hear is the bad news to get you to believe their point. So when you watch about Iraq, you will only hear about how bad it is there.  If they mention that conditions are improving it is only a side note. The foreign news is just as bad if not worse, it is all extremely anti-American. If it isn’t news about how bad we are, they won’t report it. Just visit an Arab country and you will see how badly we are portrayed against the Iraqi freedom fighters. So do I believe this extends into Global Warming? Of course I do. Is it conspiracy theory, No! It is a fact that this is what media does to get our ratings so the commercials can sell the products. So it is no surprise it will show; a thriving species and say they are in danger, terrible floods instead of gradual sea level rise, or dessert areas and famine with out explaining that other areas are becoming posh.

Virtually the entire scientific community is united in saying that global warming is real, and mostly caused by us.

A very few skeptical scientists say otherwise.  They have no data to back them up.  Yet the media covers them a lot.

This is EXACTLY what happened in the 1970s when the "global cooling" scare occurred.  The "skeptics" were wrong then, and they're wrong now.

My knowlege of global warming is not based on what I may see on television or read in the newspaper, rather it is due to talking with scientists at my place of work (University of Wisconsin, La Crosse) and what I have been able to study in Scientific Journals, such as Scientific American.  Our family web site has a page outlining the basics of this science with additionals links to NASA and Scientific American.

The facts are there, so also is the science, but there are those who just do not want to know or who wish to express some opinion that is largely uninformed and devoid of any real understanding of the science involved.  This can include journalists as well as contributors to Yahoo Answers.  Polar bears on icebergs do not even come  close to the truth.  The truth is that Global Warming is real and man is responsible.

Those who argue that global warming is just a political or media phenomenon entirely miss an important point. The Earth will change due to natural causes and if the polar bears cannot handle it, they may be lost or they might thrive. The polar ice caps might melt and they might re-freeze again in a few decades.

The global warming argument should open our eyes to a much more immediate and serious problem of global damage. It sounds similar but I doubt you can find even one real scientist who would say that we are not polluting this Earth in ways that could be very difficult to reverse once the damage is done. We look to the oceans and see miles and miles of water and we think we can dump every piece of garbage into it and have no consequence. We burn fuels that took eons to produce and let their wastes fly away without any real concern. We produce nuclear wastes that will remain with us forever. Once a few dozen more countries go nuclear, somebody will no doubt secretly dump wastes into the ocean. Some probably have already done this. Despite this, we waste resources and time arguing about whether global warming is a hoax.

I do agree that the media will twist global warming to meet their needs. They do not always twist it as we would like but it is up to you to do your homework and decide whether or not they have been factual.
