Are you cherokee indian in michigan?

i need to talk to someone of cherokee indian i need to know how to prove that my grandma was 100% cherokee her mom was 100% cherokee and her dad i belive was chocktaw i need all the help i can get on how to prove i am part indian,i only want to do this cuz i want a standing in a tribe and/or pow wow i do not want indian benefits just a standing thank you

Aaniin- here are some guesses.

You may need proof of birth from your family members. I.E. who they were, what rez they were based/registered. Birth certificates, any information about your family members in question. Just gather it all.

My mom still hasn't been recognized by her tribe because she doesn't have the proof. Nowadays, it's tough to be registered because they don't want people mooching off the benefits.

my best bet is to ASK the band you want to be a part of what their requirements are. Different bands require different things!
