Are you complaining about gas prices?

Ok, this isn't really me asking you for your advice on a problem I have, but this posting definitely proves a point that will help you see things in a different light.

If you think gas prices are too high; odds are that you're just upset you can't travel without getting a pain in your pocketbook.

Did you, for one second think about this planet? The rising cost of fuel is preventing people from using their car, and therefore actually is good for Earth.

So, by taking the bus, riding your bike or carpooling, you save money and the next generation.

  1. I have to admit that yes i do complain about gas prices.

in December, I retired from being a gas station manager, and I have heard all of the complaint from customers as the price of gas went from 36 cent a gallon, the the plus $4.00 it is today.

knowing that they just did not seem to realize that it was not the fault of those working at the gas station, or ever the owners of those gas stations.

in all of those years I have yet to see people driving less, and yes it is true that some have gone to more fuel efficient transportation, but I have also see a large increase in bigger, larger less fuel efficient Trucks, and SUV's.

I live in a tourist town, and the traffic is still bumper to bumper.

sorry, but there is no car pooling , bike riding, or bus transportation here.

and people still get in their cars to drive from one parking lot to the one next door to keep from walking.

The biggest difference that I can see, is that low income people are having to choose between putting gas in their cars, or food on the table.

  2. Yes food riots --------- people starving and dieing, and high taxes--- plus the cost of EVERYTHING going up--- is certainly GOOD for the Earth------- the people !---------- well that's another question isn't it.

  3. hmm didn't think of it like that....that's really true! But the thing is it's ok for people who have other modes of transportation but it's horrible for people who can only go by car because they live in an area where train or bus is not available....but I see your point..

  4. you are full of c**p , and just for one second think about the handicap or elderly  that cannot afford it and have to go to the doctor.

not only that think about the economy and what it is doing to it  .

our plants actually thrive off of the carbon to

  5. Just less money that America  donates to Mother Nature and People!

  6. "The rising cost of fuel is preventing people from using their car, and therefore actually is good for Earth."

This is leftist propoganda - it's exactly what they want us to think and while it sounds nice it isn't true.  Using vehicles is not bad a bad thing.  And while it never helps to complain to oil companies about their prices, most people are very upset about the sudden rise at the pumps.  Do you really think that the miniscule amount of carbon in the atmosphere from cars is all that bad?  Come on...it isn't!!

While you may be a homebody who never travels, lots of people do for lots of reasons.  To sneer at them with this kind of contempt is a reaction only a lefty could have.

Don't you realize the economic impact this is going to have on us?  No, leftists have no understanding of basic economics or business, as long as they can keep raising taxes.  But before long companies are going to start shutting their doors for good, laying off people because they can't afford to stay in business.  Food prices are going to skyrocket.  Transportation will be cut back severely.  Starvation on a large scale around the world, particularly in underdeveloped countries.  Will you still be sneering then or might you decide to change your mind?

Who cares about saving the next generation when the leftists are trying to kill off this one?

  7. Think about this:  High gas prices means  less people drive to recycling centers/salvage yards (not cost effective).  Less money to donate to environmental charities (as another poster commented), less volunteers in every aspect of society, less green products to buy on the shelves (as shipping becomes too expensive), higher crime rates, and less good will/peace towards our fellow man.

Sadly, CO2 has no effect on solar activity (the true cause of Earth's climate change).

  8. yea

  9. No, I am not complaining about gas prices. They have not been keeping up with inflation. Gas has been unrealistically cheap for years and is now about where it should be. But it was flat so long with a sudden upturn recently that people didn't have a chance to get used to the price like they did the higher prices of everything else.

  10. No I'm not complaining.

Look at gas prices in Europe - they have always been significantly higher, and part of that cost is intended to discourage people from driving. However...

as much as I am offended by DaveMs characterization of leftists (I'm a long way left of liberal), I have to agree with the spirit of what he says...

In Europe they have the infrastructure to allow people to opt out of driving and, in fact, make that an attractive option.

Here that isn't so easy. Outside of large cities, the infrastructure doesnt allow for abandoning cars.

In addition, the need for curbing car use in Europe is not entirely envirnmental - their population density is much higher than in the US, which actually facilitates the implementation of infrastructure.

Preaching to people who often don't have a choice (beyond buying a more fuel efficient vehicle) is not helpful.Don;t get me wrong - I think we should all be environmentally responsible - but how we go about making that practical for everyone is a tricky issue.

Prices are gonna keep rising and the US is gonna have to deal with it - let's hope the government/power that be/general populace can work with this instead of staying in denial...

  11. complaining about gas prices yes i am .

but we the people are responsible for it.

we are increasing exponentially, thus we ourselves ought to be blamed.

  12. You have ZERO data regarding anything on this subject. G-W, is a hoax being perpetuated by "junk scientists". They are getting Federal Research Grants(free money) to try and prove this natural phenomena, is "man-made". Writing bogus research papers, with an intended agenda, is NOT research, but theft, & fear-mongering!!

  13. Not really complaining about gas prices, I am complaining about the reason for higher prices.

    These are:

    1. American government restricting our US companies from drilling to gather a natural resource in which we all need and use. No other government restricts their businesses from drilling, why do we? THose who say this would not lower prices know nothing about economics and the basics of supply and demand.

    2. The theory of AGW - This unproven scientific hypothesis is already causing higher gas prices. The bio fuels mandate makes gas more expensive because bio fuels are more expensive.

  14. Rising fuel prices is not a good thing but it is a wake up call. Cheap gasoline wouldn't have and will not last forever. Sooner or later the huge oil deposits will dry up and we will have to resort to coal and oil shale for gasoline. This price hike is going to slow down the economy at probably one of the worst times possible. However, better that it hit now and a dollar to every gallon instead of it hitting later and adding $3. Plus, this new better gas mileage trend will help us shift into an energy efficient nation of hybrids and renewable power sources (hopefully).

You are right it has a positive aspect but it is still bad for a lot of people. =(

  15. I ride my bicycle everywhere I want to go.

good thing I never want to go far!

  16. To be honest no, I have never thought about this in your point of view.  Wow, it really makes you think doesnt it?  If we are less worried about gas prices and more worried about our families and the great outdorrs that people don't get to see enough of these days.  You have really opened my eyese and im sure if more people read this you will open their eyes too.

  17. I make a total of about $250/week making sandwiches and selling weed, AND I have to pay premium gas. I'm not complaining.

  18. No.  My complaint is the politicians that pander to the voters by saying they can do something about it (like Pelosi after the 2006 election), and the other party is responsible for it.

Prices drive behavior.  Thanks for a do nothing congress!

  19. Kristin, you set out the case for higher gasoline prices being the cure for higher gasoline prices.  Some people angrily blame Bush.  If you run a trucking company, I could understand that type of reaction.  But, Environmentalists should be dancing in the street with delight and wishing for $4 to jump to $6 a gallon.  I am beginning to question the depth of the convictions of many announced Greens.   In fact, I notice more discontent and outright anger from the Greens than the population in general.  On its face, the Green reaction seems a bit hypocritical.  I think many people who want affordable energy and clean air must address the inconsistency of their position on this issue of "high gasoline is good for the environment."  Gasoline stations are getting out of the business, the most noteworthy company to announce its plan to close shop, Exxon Mobil !

  20. I care about both. Lemme put it this way:

1.) If I have to drive(say I have nothing else to ride or no one to carpool with.) to work about 2, maybe 3 hours away, I like to fill my tank of gas(about 18 gallons=$90.00). Lots of $

2.) But, I think that in the future we will live in a world where everyone is healthy, no one ever gets sick, and the Earth

stays beautiful and fresh.(Because everyone carpooled, rode bikes, scooters, ect. And global warming just-----stopped...    (:

                                                Hope I helped.

PS Yes I do care about the gas prices.

  21. That's good phelosephy, start car pooling,

start walking and leave the car!

by gas i suppose you mean Petrol,

i had to look twice at your question as Perth,

and in Western Australia in general , w e  have

a gas shortage, of the actual gas kind!

  22. **** bush

  23. The impact of the rising cost of fuel is definitely much more than just taking the bus or riding your bike.

Living standards of all humanity do fall because of the rising cost of fuel.

What does that really mean in 3rd world countries?

Increasing poverty (hunger), diseases, deaths. Not only in Africa, but in Asia and Latin America as well.

I just mentioned one more serious effect besides more people taking the bus, but rising cost of fuel affects all aspects of human life (and not really in a positive way)

  24. What is oil?  It's organic wastes that didn't decompose for a period of time long enough to be refined into something useful.

As far as the earth is concerned, oil is filth.  It's not natural to the planet, and it's very hard for the planet to get rid of.  Oil is pollution that humans did not make.

I pray that our garbage will be this useful to someone someday.

  25. let me start off by saying Hydrogen is a great option for the concept of free energy.     I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago. Have converted over 50 vehicles in the last 10 years (gydrogen and EV) and now currently run 2 trucks (and another EV), my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen for free with caught rain water and the help of a $10 solar panel.  I offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at www agua-luna com or you can email me.

There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it... chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I'll only discuss them here. The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I offer to those who would like to run their vehicles or home on hydrogen safely. The entire guide is available at www agua-luna com

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas “on-demand” in small cylinder size amounts. It’s actually safer then gasoline as it doesn’t evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas. the following were actually taken out of my $5 guide available at www agua-luna com

        Chemically

        1. You’ll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 pvc pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a s***w on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        2. Now crunch up a couple aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and drop them into the pvc pipe, along with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opener has lye in it, some Clorox and Drano’s do to).

        3. Then simply add water, s***w on the top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye don’t really get along so they battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that the most casualties, by giving up its hydrogen and oxygen. This then builds up in the void of the pipe and is ready to be vented into your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your engine on gas then switch it off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Electrical is a bit easier then Chemically.

        1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.

        2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they don’t touch each other.

        3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        4. Then simply add water, s***w on the top cap and wait.

After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (that’s hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I don’t remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. It’s just a modified Joe’s Cell, there’s a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here www agua-luna com

It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at  www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.
