Are you cutting back on any spending due to gas prices?

Just curious if anyone is. I would guess that most people would find it hard to change their habits as it's hard to change any habit. Eventually if things worsen people will be forced to make choices.

So, is anyone cutting back on spending now due top rising prices?

  1. Nah, not yet. I would say at about $8.00 a gallon I would, but I am still okay with these.

  2. Not yet. Maybe later.

  3. I don't drive around as much as I used to, I can now go 6 weeks on one tank of gas. When I do go out I make sure I have a bunch of things that need to be done so I am not out everyday. I also order more things online so I don't have to take the 30 minute drive to the nearest city....equates out to me saving more time and gas just to pay shipping costs.

  4. You know... I have noticed that my grocery bill seems to be going up drastically each time I go to the store.  It seems as though I cannot feed my family for the same cost that I used to by a long shot.  So yes, I have decided to cut back.  I've gotten recipes and started planning meals prior to going to the store.  I've always clipped coupons and read the sale papers, which I'm doing more so now than ever.  Some stores I go to price match.  So I know ahead of time what I would like to price match.  Wal-Mart price matches, but I don't think many people know/realize that they do.  I try to do all of my running/errands at the same time as to not waste gas.  Things are getting soooo expensive!

  5. I had 2 sell my beatbox 4 years ago when gas 1st hit $3/gal.

  6. I got my water bill down by practicing the rule: if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down.

    ...does that count?

  7. no i still go out to eat 3 times a week and buy just about everything i want. i am planning ahead. i picked up a second job to offset the high cost of heating. i use diesel for my furnace and i figure it will cost about $5000 this winter to heat my house here in fairbanks alaska. for the 4 months that i need to work this second job it will comfort me to know i will have the money to make it through the winter. life is good...

  8. Just dining out less.

    Healthier for us, I'm sure.

Not really hitting us very hard, but where we live everything is less than 5 minutes away, even work.

  9. Not really, no.

  10. Yes! I am by  no means a wealthy college student. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a full-scholarship to school. And was peevish in thinking that was really going to save me anything with gas above 4 dollars now. I needed to run some random errands today like i normally would and decided to just go to the bookstore and back home and no coffee at the cafe. I also don't use the A/C in the car and try to follow the semi's on the interstate. It actually has been scientifically proven to effectively conserve a third more gas than if you were driving free of a semi. Needless to say, I am definitely feeling the economic crunch since the recent spike in oil.
