  1. i'm not deaf, but...

try showing silent films to the class, the deaf will get more out of them, but the others will have to learn to sit still, look straight ahead and be quiet to enjoy the film and to make sure they read the dialog when it comes up.

make it a part of history class, show them what movies were like when they started making them

  2. nope srry

  3. The biggest challenge in my daily life is deciding what perfume to wear :)

  4. If you haven't already , learn sign language for better communication.  And never ever treat the deaf as if they are stupid because they don't hear .

I'm not deaf . My father was .. and I had 5 aunts and 5 uncles who were deaf also.

  5. what, i cant hear you

  6. Thank you, teacher.  I think you are already a good teacher, yet you will become even better, G-d willing. (I know you are willing, as evidenced in your question)

I have tinnitis very prominently in the right ear, since the age of eight.  The left ear has some tinnitis but the right sings much more, drowning out the left in a manner of speaking.

Also, I have some hearing loss, but not enough for this to be considered a disability by the Social Security or the Veterans Administration.  Yet at times I think there is some difficulty in my hearing hence in learning. This hearing loss has been recorded in audiology.

Please remember some of us have only partial deafness, or tinnitis.  We may not have been diagnosed.

Perhaps you can help remind students and families to get regular checkups and have hearing included in that.  Sometimes when students seem not to be paying attention, it is because they actually have a hearing problem, if not attention deficit.
