Will i get paid jobseekers whilst im away im holiday.

I stupidly told the jobcentre that i have a new job that will start 18th august, so could i still expect to be paid.

When i come back of holiday, i can still attend a signing on date before starting my new job, but im worried that i have sabotaged my chances of getting paid up until the day i start work.

  1. complete shambles this country, we look after all the foreigners in this country with £2m pads for there 3wifes and 12 kids all out of our ,yet we cant let our own people have a holiday and a break from looking through papers,& searching the internet for jobs without stopping there money, i have worked all my life apart from being laid off once in 1979 for 6months. i was a fitter back then, myself and a pakistani signed on at the same time both 18yr olds i got £23  he got £58 tell me why is it my colour or his ? i say let the unemployed have a holiday and pay them

  2. When are some people going to realise that benefits are there to support those who are not a position to support themselves, not because they've earned it by paying taxes!

Taxes are paid to support not to buy rights!!!

  3. Yes you are entitled to two weeks holiday whilst claimimg Job Seekers Allowance providing you inform the office two weeks before going and you fill in form IP30. Anything over two weeks in any callender year you will not be able to recieve JSA. This is the rule regardless of holidaying abroad or in UK.

  4. My husband and i are going on holiday for 2 weeks this holiday was booked and paid for before he was made redudnant he is claiming job seekers and i know that he will loose 2 weeks money but i think its unfair to say that you shouldnt go away and save the money but when you have paid you would loose the money anway so you might as well go i know people that go away on holiday but somehow manage to lie there way around thinks how is this fair

  5. What if you have to go to the ROI for a religious family event (not a holiday), you go the day before the religious occasion, and come back the morning after (on a sun), and you have still done everything you're supposed to during that cycle to look for work?

Would you still have to inform them and if you do, will your signing on days still be the same, and how long before recieving first payment?

This is something I have to attend as I am standing for my nephew at his confirmation, which is why I would like to be there the day before the confirmation and come straight back the morning after

  6. No right to a holiday??? Get off yer soapbox and DO NOT stereotype you sanctimonious *********. Walk in my shoes and then you may judge me.

Soooooo... I paid over £25k a year in tax and NI for 18 years, I have some savings, lucky me, the amount I have is not great but enough for me to take a holiday. I've earned it and I have also earned my right to claim Jobseekers Allowance whilst I am seeking a job. I am not enjoying being unemployed nor did I enjoy having to make my own staff redundant prior to my own. The majority of us do not enjoy being unemployed, the hours are great but the money is lousy but the experience of signing on hurts more than you will ever know. Am I scrounger? I will NEVER be able to claim back as much as I have paid. Would I prefer a holday or a new job? I'd rather be working. But until then I have earned my right to benefits and MY HARD EARNED holiday.

  8. I booked me nad my partners honeymoon in January to go to Florida for Thanks giving in november. I Paid for it then as i was in work and i was made redundent in Febuary.
I started a claim for JSA and told them about the holiday today 6 weeks in adavnce and they told me that i have to sign off of JSA and start a new claim when i get back. I will have accsess to the internet whilst over there so will still be looking for a job which makes no difference. So i loose the 2 weeks money for a start then it can take upto 4weeks to get a payment after starting a new claim which will mean upto 6weeks without a payment. i have thought about not going but then i think that its our honeymoon and its paid for im not going cancel it as i wouldnt get owt back so whats the point.

  9. Im on jsa and my sister is actually treating me to a holiday but she didnt ask me before she booked if it falls on a week that I have to sign on and it does which is really annoying but I have no clue where im going as its my bday surprise but I know its abroad as she said its hot, but this is really going to mess me up though as i have a bit of debts to pay which are due the wednesday every week after I get my money which goes all towards them so all I live off is my dog walking money, I have only £40 what has taken me since the day she booked to save (which I think was beg august) so if we are going somewhere in europe thats basically 45euros so it seems my sister might be paying for practically everything. Im not a scrounger you aint seen whos living below me breeding up and having like 7 people or so living there doing sweet fa all day in a 2 bed flat at least im doing some dog walking which ive declared with head office so dont even bother saying about people are scrounging its not as easy to get a job these days and more so for me with only 1yrs experience I was made redundant after a year of my job which took a year to get from leaving college!!! Now been out of work for 18months still no sign of anything and I actually look for work as I know some poeple who areon jsa and dont really look!!

  10. I have to be honest i think all you people having ago at people claiming job seekers and going on holiday are pathetic, I had to go on job seekers allowance as I was made redundant, are you completely thick or are you just choosing to be ignorant of the fact no everyone is "scrounging". I went on a camping holiday....to bloody derbyshire (which by the way is where I live)for £1 a night for three nights, now I dont know what you know about benefits, but as im finding out its noway near enough to live on, and pay rent/mortgages, so get over-yourselves, after all with the current economy you could be next!! (And I do hope so you ignorant fools)

  11. i was earning 800 a month when i was working so had a holiday paid for and 2 weeks before i went on holiday i got sacked so its rubbish you saying you shouldn't go on holiday as you should keep the money for saving etc, sometimes its simply too late! i had my interview on wednesday, my sign in day will be a monday starting from the 14th. my money is being back dated from the 26th august, will i get any money paid into my bank before the 14th? Thanks x

  12. if i took my laptop with me or used the hotels computer to check my numerous web jobsites 3 times everyday as i do at home while on holiday abroad would this count as still seeking work with jobseekers?

  13. To All the idiots moaning about people going on holiday on benefit.
Some of us booked holidys when we were working for the past 20 years and unfortunetly were made redundant.
NOT everyone is skiving and claiming money. I think I have paid my contributions enough to claim something back.
If most of you put as much effort into getting a job as you do sitting around all day watching Trisha and yapping on forums we wouldn't have as much people claiming.

  14. My husband has just started claiming job seekers allowance due to loosing his job, he explained to them that our holiday had been booked and paid for while working, and because it is in this country and he is able to get back if offered a job that he could sign on when he got back and thats weeks payment would be a week late.  And just to let you goody goodys out there, we are not enjoying living on benefits and would much rather be working, its not that bloody easy!!!
