  1. I no trains can be an awful pain I travel on them daily but I live near London and the train services around here are normally very reliable but they weren't always this good so I do know what you mean. Don't worry if enough people make complaints then things will change.

  2. I am Personally sick of people complaining, about delays caused by the elements, i know not all people are claiming because of that because i have heard all sorts of stories working in a train station like, "The train is being delayed because we have lost a driver in Newcastle" , "The train is being delayed because of leaves on the line" , " The train is being delayed because of (various farm) animals on the line", then yes i fully believe people deserve compensation. But when you get things like Flooding and Severe storm damage, stolen signalling cable, suicides and heavy snow, i fail to see why the operator should be held responsible and i also fail to see how someone such as myself being on the front line should be subjected to various gestures and abuse, whilst having tickets thrown at me for "REFUNDING NOW OR ELSE!" should be tolerated.

Edit: Though you are not wanting to get what you paid for, you are wanting to get what you got for free, if your suggesting that rail operators take into consideration everything that can go wrong and run their services around it, then you'll find thats not practical, if they did plan for everything that could go wrong you would find a 3 hour journey taking 6 hours, as they dodged delays and you could say thats its easier to drive, you would still be hit by delays such as traffic, accidents and weather, but what then? would you get what you paid for? no it would be your responsibility and you should have factored in all that could go wrong. Good luck trying to claim back compensation from yourself.

  3. People should stop moaning about the service. I don't get up at stupid o'clock in the morning to to delay trains you know!!  You think the staff like it when delays occur?

Turn your attention to the thieving gypos who pinch the power cables to sell as scrap!!

  4. And who will end up paying for your compensation?  You, because your ticket price will rise, to make up the shortfall caused by compensation claims.

Stop being so greedy, and just show some Yorkshire grit.

  5. yep i think most people are but don't for get that 90% of delays are coz off things passanger do like holding door open ect i know coz was train driver for 15 years  2min each stop 10 stops 20mins late trains out of service p on seats  sic on seats smashed up train flood  bog  and meny more  punch drivers & guards place thing on track ____or jump if frount of train I had this happen 5 times trains on same track cant pass each other like a bus 1 train stoped all stoped

  6. Claiming compensation requires the customer to be delayed by over 60 mins (see conditions of carrage), but certainly if you felt hard done by I would suggest you use either the TOC company responsible for the train you was catching complaints system (via web, email, letter, telephone or comments form) make sure you have the ticket for your journey availiable so they can obtain the referance numbers, where the ticket was purchased, times, etc. The compensation is normally paid in Rail Vouchers.

If anyone is upset by delays, cancellations, poor service, etc they should complain and as a Rail Employee I am always pushing people who feel they are hard done by to do the same as our hands are resticted at the local level as to what we can do.

    Good Luck

  7. hah, yeah, but generally too much effort to get it out of them. i agree they should pay more though... i have a friend in holland, and i think there if the train is >10 mins late, they get a partial refund, and over 1-2hrs, a total refund (correct me if i'm wrong, anybody! not certain of those numbers).

  8. no i em not fed up with train services we r  very satisfied with our current train service

  9. I can see the rail companies refusing these Automated submissions in the not to distant future. Given a few cases of Fraud that have occured using the London Transport system.

Certainly putting pen to paper yourself might mean you get looked on more favourably and potentially get compensation above the legal minimum
